Wow! Can someone please recommend a good mag loader? I took the new G29 to the range today. With the 10 round and the 15 round mags, it was all I could do to get the last round stuffed into the magazine. At one point I finally gave up and quit trying to stuff the 15th round in the G20 mags. The one that came with the gun is a joke.
Hmmmm. I wonder if my XD loader would work on the Glock mags? It works very well.
:nsb:......on a real note, just keep loading the mags the way you are, they'll loosen up.
my thumbs have calluses now from loading damn 45's...
they loosen up a little, but pretty much just get used to it.

I went through the same thing with every Glock I've purchased, and every mag since. The "trick", like most here will tell you, is to load to max and let it set for a few days. What I've found is that the mag loader is useless when trying to stuff that last round in for break-in. I just put on my shootin' gloves and stuff that last round in manually. Then I let it sit for a few days, and every once in a while I'll just press down on the top round. Once I feel enough "give", I'll try to seat it in the gun. If it doesn't seat right in without extra force I let it sit out a few more days. Usually within three or four days I'll feel plenty of "give" in the fully loaded mag and it will seat in the gun no problem. End of problem. It will load to max from then on without an issue.

Every now and then you'll run into a really stubborn mag. When you absolutely can't get that last round in a new mag, then let it sit one shy for a few days before grunting in that last round.

everyone i shoot with seems to have a problem loading with the factory speed loader, or they call me a sissy for loading with a speed loader
they cant quite figure it out
but for me its simple and i can load 2 mags the time it takes them to load one manually
just break it in...itll be fine

Go to Office Max, find their section with the coin holders, money counters, safes, etc.
Start looking for the Rubber Fingertips -- they are little brown rubber things that fit over your thumb. (You have probably seen Postal workers and bank employees using them etc.) They come in a couple of different sizes, and the stock number on my box is: #54033. They only cost about $2.50 or so for an entire box of them! They work exceptionally well for loading mags, especially if you load a lot of mags, frequently. -- Then they are a must have, trust me... I won't ever go back to a slow and clumsy mag loader again!
Another idea, for breaking-in new mags: While using a mag loading tool, once you get the next to last round into the magazine place the loading tool on that round and pump it up and down, kind of like you're doing CPR. After pushing the loading tool down about 3-5 times you'll probably have to push the round back against the back of the mag again as it will try to work it's way forward. Then repeat the "CPR" movement. Do this 25-35 times per mag, then when you get the last round in push it down a little bit with the loading tool to make sure it's seated and not stressing out the feedlips. You should see (and not to mention feel) the difference; it's almost as good as a broken-in mag!
After doing this "CPR" method of mag break-in, loading the last round in your new mags will be easy -- many of mine loaded fairly easily without the help of the mag loading tool after I discoved this little trick.
Like I said, if you're an active shooter and load a lot of mags, or even just for day-to-day mag loading try the Rubber Fingertips -- you'll be happy you did!
Both of these ideas were so simple I'm surprised I didn't think of them sooner. My thumb sure probably wished I did! Hopefully now there will be a few less sore thumbs out there...
I just man up and load the damn mags.
It isn't THAT hard.
I am a little guy.

If I can, you can.
HKS makes a good speedloeader for the Glock. Go here: http://www.pistoleer.com/hks/magazine/
Get model 453 it's $10.53 + $5.05 for First Class or $6.69 Priority.
No, I'm not a rep, just use one for my G22 and love it.

......some people out in the Glock world would find it difficult,if not impossible,to chew gum.(no disrespect intended)
To me,it's common sense. The Glock mag loader works.
Place rds in mag until you have one less than full capacity. Leave sit for a week. It's majical(mystical almost),they are easier to load. Actually....what could be better. The more fun you have shooting, the easier the mags get to load,so the more fun you have shooting. This could be one of the greatest expierances of your entire life.
But ......if ya'll was a REAL MAN,you would own a OD G20 and load all the mags with your teeth.(like someone that I heard of once)

The HKS was the one I was looking for.
For the record these are brand new mags and the first time they have ever been loaded. I could get the last round in the 10 round G29 mags but the 15 round G20 mags are the one that were kicking my arse. I'll load them puppies up and let them sit to break them in and see what happens. Thanks for that bit of advice.
And OD green is so overrated.
Unfortunately, the HKS loader for the big mags (G20/21/29/30) didn't work very well for me, and I sent it back to HKS in exchange for their G17/19/26 sized loader, which works GREAT. I hope they are redesigning the unit for the bigger mags, but I haven't heard of a new design yet.

So you are able to use this model with the 10mm/45ACP mags?

I have no plans to buy another one unless and until they redesign it to be like their great 9mm sized loader.

Everywhere I see that sells the upLuLA shows it backordered.
I got an UPLULA the other day (after being on a waiting list for about 3 weeks). I have the HKS for a couple of my guns, but having Sig, HK, Walther, Kel-Tec, Hi-point (*cough*), Taurus, and Springfields, it suddenly became worth it to just get one universal loader.
The darn thing rocks. It's tougher to describe or see how it works than it is to actually just do it.
The place where I got mine (eGuns.com) went through 30 dozen of them and has more on order. I'd suggest just sucking it up and getting on a waiting list, because I think it's WELL worth the cost.
Well, the Uplula looks good, it appears to work well, and it would be nice to have one loader that works on most all mags, but for only half the price of the Uplula, I can teach you how to use the free one that Glock sent along with your gun! :)

I found the Uplula much better than the standard Glock loader. The Glock loader (and the HKS, although I haven't used one) push down on the back of the cartridge. You can only slide the next round until it hits the loader, then have to release the loader and push the round in the rest of the way, unless I've been doing it wrong all these years. The Uplula "beak" pushes down on the front of the cartridge, allowing you to drop the next round in. You don't even have to push it! Then the beak slides out. I was able to fully load my magazines easily. I gave up on the last one with my Glock loader.

That was the question I had about the Uplula, how well does it work when trying to get that last (and usually VERY tight) round into the magazine considering that the loader's lever is taking up space in the very area the round needs to go into?
Really though, about the only thing about the Uplula that I dislike for sure is the price tag....

HI,
Yes it is a high price tag but I have mild carpal tunnel(CT) and they all(Glock, HKS etc..) hurt me but the new Uplupa works best and does not bother my CT. The round falls all the way back w/o any pushing of the round(this is what gets my CT), you release the grip and the "beak" goes out. You lift the loader and re-grip the unit to load and other round. It will load a single stack-Glk 9mm-Glk 45 and the race gun(Para and STIs) wide body mags.
Laugh all you want:laughabove:
but it helps me in a match. I ordered mine thru Brownells-not in the book but you can call and they will take your order.
My two cents
Good Luck

+1
I just received mine as well. It works great, much better than the stock one. As for the last round, it really depends on magazine IMO. Some will allow the last round in fairly easy while others have to be severely force. All my mags are new so maybe it might be easier later? Either the way, the UpLula helps a lot. I would recommend it.
