Magazine catch failure in a p40

I was wondering if anyone else had has a problem with the magazine release. My friend encountered a failure while qualifying with his P40 yesterday. While doing a magazine change, he inserted a new magazine, and it fell right out. He then grabbed his second magazine and it would not stay in the gun either. Upon further inspection, after he left the firing line, the magazine catch broke off inside the magazine well. He called Kahr today, and they are sending him the replacement part.

The P40 is less then 4 years old and probably has around 1,500 rounds through it.
