I would probably only use those mags in the range. I've heard some people have problems with aftermarket mags, some people dont. Honestly, I wouldnt rely on them for self defense though. My 2 cents.

What he said.....
They are certainly pre-ban, you could probably sell them in NY or somewhere that can only have pre-bans and buy new mags with the money.

Okay, did I miss something? I don't see where brian said that the mags were aftermarket. If they are aftermarkets, what 'they said.'
brian,
'IF' the mags you purchased are Glock OEM NFML, then you did quite well at $10 per. I have G NFML magazines that function without a flaw.
Some Glock purests find OEM NFML mags very desirable. Premium prices are paid for them.

i need to go back to the store and pick up the other one they had
brian,
I'm gonna speak brief (to save my time and bandwidth) and off the cuff... there are Glock / magazine experts on this board that can speak at length. If you have specific questions, feel free to ask.
I don't really know about the "rarity" of NFML mags. However, if any are "rare" in the states, they'd probably be the .40s. The .40s did not see the production duration that, say, the G17 magazines did prior to the FML mags being produced. Also, I think that NFML mags are still in production. I believe that some of Glock's customers still specify NFML mags. As I understand things, the FML mags came to life because of the U.S. market... seems us Yanks like our magazines to drop-free; a legacy of our 1911 conditioning.
When you speak of "First Generation" in reference to Glocks, magazines really follow another sort of catagory. "First, Second, Third" generally are used to describe pistol production and their design changes.
Glock mags basically fall into the following slang distinctions:
Non-Full-Metal-Lined (aka non-drop-free). The NFML were Pre-ban.
Then there are the Full-Metal-Lined (aka drop-free). The FML mags fell into the Clinton Ban. Therefore, one can find FML in Standard capacity and Restricted capacity (10 rounders). During the Clinton disaster, any magazine with a capacity greater than 10 rounds was marked "Law Enforcement." Confused yet? Now Post Clinton Ban, FML is what is available in the states and there are design changes with the Post-Ban FML mags. Butch (a member) has a great picture showing the three types of G mags... maybe he'll chime in or you can do a search to find it.
When I said that some Glock purists desire NFML magazines, it's true. I've seen them sell on this board for high $20s to mid $30s range. I, for instance, have a Gen-2 M22... one of the first .40s to hit our shores. The pistol was bought with several NFML mags, which BTW, function w/o a hiccup. I would not part with the NFML because of sentimental reasons... the pistol, she doesn't care and shoots all production mags.
Anyway, I'm afraid that I've rambled and failed to help much.
My advice is to go ahead and buy that other NFML mag for $10. You said that they are "new," as opposed to being used magazines. There's a rare find if true.
