I have an aftermarket slide stop that a Glock Smith sold me. He said he made them himself. He said that it would tighten the barrel fit and shoot better. It does have other visuual dimensions other than leingth. Is this a good thing to do? I have used it in several glocks and it does seem to shoot tighter groups.

Umm...i think you have been misinformed. All the extended slide lock does is make it easier to reach the slide lock lever. It has nothing to do with the accuracy of your Glock.

How does it look different than any other one?

Does he also have snake oil for sale?;)
1bigtaco nailed it. An extended, oversize, whatever, slide lock is only useful if you use it to drop the slide after an involuntary reload.
I have the Aro-Tek part on my G-19. It works like a champ.
But make the gun "shoot better"? Nope.

ACTUALLY, the extended slide STOP lever makes it easier to drop the slide (supposedly) and the slide LOCK is the flat piece under the barrel, you know, the one you pull down on to take the gun apart.
Sooooooooo...I suppose a tighter fitting one may make some difference to the performance of the gun. To the OP, see if he will let you shoot HIS guns with the original in place and then the new part.

I think you were the victim of a slick salesman. I fail to see how that would improve accuracy. Why even spend money at all, on a part that doesn't even do anything worthwhile, unless you are in a contest to see how fast you can field strip your pistol. There's a lot of aftermarket stuff that comes under the category of "snake oil". Not that they are poorly made products, they just don't do enough for the gun to justify the cost of the part. Bragging rights may account for something to some people, but not to me..

ACTUALLY, that only applies to the first shot ONLY if you eased the slide foward instead of using the slide lock release or pulling back and letting it slam home (which locks the barrel down) You certainly don't have to have an extended slide lock, the one that came with my 19 works great!

Taco, I'm confused. Are we agreeing or what?
The slide licok is the flat double ended serrated piece that transects the pistol in front of the trigger pin (Correct me if I am wrong).
The slide stop lever is the LEVER on the left side of the pistol, activated by the follower when a magazine has dispensed its last round and the gun has ejected the empty cartridge (again correct me if I'm wrong)
Oh and ROLL TIDE!

You are right, I thought you were reffering to the barrel not "locking down" after letting the slide ease foward chambering a round. I geuss we weren't even talking about the same thing? The OP was reffering to the extended slide lock lever.

OK, that is what I inferred from the "enhancing accuracy" part, making it tighter.

I bet you'd be measuring your dick right now, if he'd told you it'd make it grow. LOOK AT THE DAMNED GUN!:brickwall: Does it do ANYTHING that could POSSIBLY affect accuracy? :brickwall:
BTW, I happen to have this special kinda beans that makes you less stupid. Only $99.99 with FREE SHIPPING!

I am talking about the slide lock. Not the slide stop. I may be wrong (NO) but it does look like the slide lock does lock up under the barrel just behind the guide rod. If I am right it could put upward pressure on the barrel. Take the barrel out of the slide . Put the slide back on the frame. Thr slide will not lock in place. It will come off the frame with or without pushing down on the slide lock.

Well, back to the original purpose of this thread-
A guy has an aftermarket slide lock he made and claims it will help the accuracy of the gun. Unless you have a fixed barreled gun like a P7 or Walther PPK, the barrel moves during functioning. In the 1911 systems, gunsmiths "tighten" things all the time. Slide to frame fit, barrel to bushing, etc... Maybe this piece is designed to help the barrel move less and return to the same point time after time. (by same point, I mean more consistently and with less play. Will it work? Ask him to let you borrow one and see. If he has to handfit it to your gun, it may not be such an advantage; if it is a drop in piece, cheap and easy to replace, try it, it may help and you may like it.
You are refering to the T.R. Graham Slidelock.
I think he posts here in the Lonestar Glockers section.

Yes,and if I can find him I would like to order a couple more of the slide locks from him. Like I said I have used the one I bought from him in several glocks and they all seemed to shoot tighter groups. I know the barrel locks up tighter. T. R. Graham always did great work for me.

Do you have any pics TR? How much?
I've heard a lot of good things about the T R Graham slide lock but I've never actually tried one.
Anyone else have reports?

Could you tell us something about how your slide lock improves accuracy? Does it lock the barrel tighter?
