View Full Version : HEY S&W make a J frame Ti in 9mm!
I wish S&W would make a J frame revolver in 9mm with Titanium frame. Preferably the Centenial frame. AND this time make the moon clips out of polymer.

Doubt they'll listen...
Even Taurus discontinued their smaller-than-J-frame (shorter cylinder and frame) Titanium 9mm revolver -- almost as soon as it hit the market.
I've only seen two of these -- and one is usually riding in my front pocket on a daily basis.

A couple of friends and I did a little ballistic testing last weekend -- one of the pistols used was this little revolver. Loaded with CorBon DPX, the effects were quite respectable.

Any trouble of light primer strikes with the Taurus 9mm? How well do the moon clips work? I can get a blue all steel Taurus for $300- in a gunshop here locally.

I've not encountered any light strikes. The moon clips work fine (though some adjustments with a flat blade srew driver on the lips are necessary with some brands of ammo).
If the blue one near you is the smaller instant backup version -- I say get it. If it is the larger j-frame model (with the 38SPL length cylinder) I would personally pass. (See my photo comparing the j-frame .38 to the 9mm instant backup above)
Yeah the one I was looking at has the shorter cylinder & has the bobbed hammer like yours. I may have to get it tomorrow. I was just concerned about light strikes, moonclips, & it being blue finish. I wouldnt carry it IWB during summer anyway so the blue shouldnt matter.

$300 is a decent price. I added the factory rosewood grips to mine for ease in the draw from pocket carry. I guess one could always hardchrome or duracoat the little pup if you like it...

I've got one of these buggers and every time I shoot it, it will tear skin off the inside of my thumb, even with gloves on! Maybe I should put it up for sale here.

If it is the instant backup version rather than the larger j-frame 905 -- yes, you should. Finish - blue, stainless, titanium?
They are neat little guns. And 9mm in a little pocketable revolver is UBER cool.

NOt sure of the model, I think it's titanium or aluminum, stainless, bobbed hammer and rubber grips.
