View Full Version : 21SF ever be available with a std. mag release?
I know that the 21SF's are out with the glock rail now. From the beginning, I was under the impression, that with the glock rail, they would also have the standard (non ambi) mag release. This doesn't seem to be the case on the ones that I have seen so far. Are the 21SF's with a standard mag release gonna be available? Or, is this new ambi mag release a new standard for all Glocks? Either way, I suppose it wouldn't take a lot of work to grind off the passenger side mag button. Thoughts?

I don't know the answer to your question, although I would guess that Glock plans to keep the ambi mag release. The reason I say that is they've changed ALL G21 magazines to the G21SF configuration; they wouldn't have done that if they were planning to do away with the ambi release.
I presume you're bringing this up because your trigger finger rubs against the mag release on the right side. I mean no offense by this, but quit whining. Welcome to the left-handed world! We left-handers have always had that problem, and we simply adapted. In fact, many left-handers probably can do a magazine change on a right handed gun using their trigger finger on the mag release, than most right-handers can do on the same gun using their right thumb.

Quick call to glock. You can get the G21SF, Glock Rail, standard mag catch, so the answer is yes, they will make them without the ambi-safety.

No whining here. I am sure I could fire it just fine. However, this may be a duty gun, and I don't need an exposed mag release button hanging out there, only to be depressed accidently in the squad car, or other situation, causing a unwanted mag ejection.

That is what the rep told my buddy..... I know, I know, it is pretty much hearsay. But word is that the ambi-release was left over from the JSP contract (as was the new rail). They more or less tried to just sell it as is since the JSP went bye bye. People adn LEOs complained about the rail not fitting 21 holsters, so they released them with the standard rail. Now people and LEOs are complaining about the ambi-mag release, so it too will be an option. Apprently LEOs were having problems with their duty high-retention holsters hitting the ambi release and popping the mags out.
When the standard rail, right handed mag release comes out, I will be all over it.
BTW I did get to shoot the 21SF last weekend. It has been a while since I have shot my regular 21 all stock, but the 21SF has almost no recoil. I was very impressed.

I just ordered one, glock rail, standard mag catch as instructed by Glock....
Why bother guys? Just stick to the standard G21. Why go through the hastle of special orders to delete features. ...for just a slightly smaller grip?

I thought the same way too, but here is how I think now. Why not. The grip is only slightly smaller. Not a huge difference, but noticable. Now around me, the SF and the regular 21 are the exact same price. Why not?
BTW Glock is not doing the SF just for us. The big motivation is for LEO contracts. The big complaint about the 21 was the grips size. They are trying to fix that so they don't loose contracts to their competition.
Eps, If Glock wants to grab the LE contracts it needs to be more inovative. Like slimming down the slide width, better sights , amb. mag. rel, foward slide grip for the G21 anyway.

I've got small hands so for me the difference is tremendous. I would never carry a G21 for duty use but the SF is a different story.
Here are two Glock 21SF's I just received. The Top is Non-ambi. and bottom is Ambi. Mag release. Hope this helps.

Can you order the G21 SF with a non-ambi AND the pic rail? This is the configuration I want. I live in California by the way.
SGT45, thanks for posting. That is what I was hoping glock would offer. I think I'll have to get another one, now.

I'm waiting for more non-ambi mag release G21SFs to come out too. I like all of my glocks to be uniform.
