Pistol has been recovered.

Bad News:

A friend and I decided to go fishing this morning after work. We put the boat in at the Kelly Creek boat launch below the Logan Martin Dam. We only stayed out 3 hrs due to not catching much. As I parked the boat and begin walking towards my truck, I see broken glass on the ground beside my door and discovered someone had "taken me to the cleaners." My Glock 36 (HLF 102) was stolen along with a C-Tac IWB holster, a Benchmade knife and cell phone charger.
If anyone happens to run across this pistol, notify the authorities. Pistol has been entered into NCIC. Thanks, Keith

Keith, Are you talking about Lake Martin? If so, and you guys were parked at a public boat launch. There is a PRETTY good chance, that there were Security Cameras somewhere around. Did you guys think to look at the cameras if any? Good Luck! Friend.

This was actually Lay Lake, just below the Logan Martin Dam in St. Clair County. It is a rural area with no cameras.

Man, that sucks. I hope the folks get caught. I live pretty close to the place you're talking about and that's about par for the course out there. Nothing but trouble out that way.

I am really not trying to be an ass, but why would you leave a pistol in an unattended vehicle?

I too will keep an eye out for it.

Sorry for your loss, I hate a thief.

Your not being an ass, its a good question.
I have a couple different reasons...none of which mean crap at this point. First of all, out of habit. Its a bad habit which I have since changed. It was "hidden" as it always was and I never had a problem until that day. The second reason is I had another pistol in my boat that I carry when fishing and was either too lazy to grab the G36 or in too big of a hurry. Either way, I learned a valuable lesson and I hope everyone else learns from my mistake and not your own.

I'll keep an eye out in Auburn, in case it makes it's way down here. I wrote down the serial # and put it in my gun bag. I go to the range a lot and have been wanting to shoot a 36. If I see one I will be looking pretty close at it anyway. Good Luck

Do cops make the circuit in Alabama at all the pawn and gun shops checking for stolen guns??? They do here in Texas, just why I was asking....Man that sucks, would your car insurance cover that or would you have to pay a crazy deductible??? But still that wasn't some cheap stuff to lose either....Man best of luck to you, hope they can catch the scumbag.......
