What a Blast!!!! I just shot this for the first time last Tuesday and it was great. You have to take an hour long new shooter class which is packed full of safety, shooting techniques and tactical shooting and did I say safety. Maybe if you've been through one of the combat shooting schools you would know alot of this but I thought it was very good. The instructor (Stu) covered grip, stance, drawing and holstering, tactical reloads, clearing jams, it was incredible. Just me and another guy in the class, talk about a private lesson, I couldn't estimate how much it would be worth and it was free!
That's just the pre-shoot lesson, it gets better. Then you go to the range, they show you around and sign you up to shoot. They have two real life scenarios, each with two stages. They change them every three weeks but each week they add more challenges and make it harder.
The targets are clothed so you don't see bullet holes, they make it as realistic as possible. Every new scene is designed to teach a new skill or tactic. It was the most fun shooting I've ever had and I learned alot of practical skills too. Talk about jumping into the deep end on my first visit. The one scenario is you're sitting in your recliner and the lights go out and there are intruders in the house (this is all set up in the range) and you grab your gun and flashlight and go to clear the house. Around a corner into a hall you come to the first room three BG's two family, you have to stop the threat as quick as possible, same thing next room just different arrangement. I've never shot in the dark before, talk about excessive heart rate, I must have been at 200bpm.
I could keep going on but I'll spare you. All I can say is that if you're in the Rochester area, or even close check it out, you won't regret it.
One other thing, everyone was very friendly. At the range near my house they all knew each other and I felt like an outsider, I had to talk to them or no one would have spoken to me. At this place it was just the opposite. Everyone was encouraging and helpful, the RO's were great, really made you feel safe. Thanks Dave!
That's all I'll say ;f
