Doing some research and shopping for a new AR-15. Not sure if I want a standard 20" M-16 lookalike or something in the M4 profile. I had a Bushmaster years ago and it was just fine. Now I have the option of another Bushy, a RRA, a DPMS or something else. Who's got the best bang for the buck. Nothing against Colt, but I'm not a collector and can't justify the extra cash for the same performance. Heck, I like my MAK-90 also!

STAG!
I'm not sure how you'll be able to get away from the rifle not looking like a standard 20" or M4. The AR is pretty similar with just little differences in the handguard length, handguard thickness, and barrel profile.
If you mean you don't like the M4 barrel profile but like the length then you can get a 16" carbine or a 14.5" carbine with a permanent flash hider.
There's also other rifle to look into; the Sig 556 and the Robinson Arms XCR use M16 mags and are pretty similar to the AR. You could also wait for the Magpul Masada which is supposed to come out Spring '08. You'll pay more for these rifles.

Go with Stag. They are a better value than any of the brands you mentioned.

Got a link to Stag? What makes them any better?

This is their website:
http://store.stagarms.com/catalog/
Prices will be less with a dealer, let us know exactly which configuration you're interested in and we can help you find a dealer that can take care of your needs.
They are better overall quality, take more precautions, give more standard options, and generally do things closer to milspec than the brands you mentioned (things you may or may not notice depending on how much shooting you do). They are also less expensive than Bushmaster or RRA...
So, they are just the best VALUE of any other manufacturer out there... Few do a little better (not much), and most charge more...

What are you going to do with it?
If you're only looking for light, occasional shooting in recreational applications, you'll probably never know the difference in any of the brands.
