Hello all. I've been thinking about doing this for awhile but now I'm gonna get er' done.
This is the latest atrocity facing North Carolina gun owners.
Thanks, Mark.

GRNC Alert 05-13-07:
Hit Them Again on 'Prosecute Lawful Gun Owner' Bill
THIS JUST IN FROM THE
'VICTIM DISARMAMENT SESSION'
Act Now: HB 1847, "Report Lost or Stolen Gun" In House J-I Committee
Monday!
We don't ask this of you often but we need YOU to show up for this
committee meeting! All the leverage possible will be required to stop
this bad bill.
We will meet at the Printed Bills area at 2:00 PM. To find Printed
Bills: Enter the Legislative Building and turn left. You will enter
an indoor courtyard that contains the 1300-numbered offices, and the
Printed Bills office will be to your right. If you're arriving late
(please try not to), the committee room is 1228.
Directions to the Legislative Building
Coming from I-40, take exit 298B, follow 50/401 North, bear right
onto McDowell, and turn right onto Jones (which is one-way). The
Legislative Building will be on your left, between Salisbury and
Wilmington and across from parking garage for NC Museum of Natural
History (I think it is natural history).
To park, go past the Legislative Building and cross Wilmington. You
will see an open parking lot on the right immediately after the
intersection.
If you have any problems or delays, please call Paul Valone at
704-907-9206.
A quick refresher on what is properly called "The Prosecute Lawful
Gun Owners Act," the bill would:
* Give you only 48 hours to file separate reports for each firearm
stolen.
* Cover not only known, but also unknown losses. For instance, if you
have your gun safe cleaned out by a burglar and you report the 30 guns you remember, but there was that one you forgot you had, you could be held liable for that one because you "reasonably should have known" it was stolen.
* Virtually require you to retain a pistol purchase permit for each
handgun stolen, creating a new pathway to handgun registration.
IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED
* SHOW UP at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 14 at the NC General Assembly in
Raleigh. We want to PACK THIS COMMITTEE HEARING.
* CALL these pro-gun members of the House J-I Committee and urge them
to attend this meeting to vote against HB 1847:
