Are you talking about complete uppers and lowers, or just the receivers?
There have been a lot of arguments on your question and the answer is the best is what you, yourself buy and enjoy...all of the manufacturers make good AR's and just find the best deal for you and buy it and don't worry about what others think of your choice. There is nothing wrong with the A,B,C,D, and R of AR's and Stag makes good ones also...

In the present climate, the best manufacturer is the one you can actually get a rifle from. Bushmasters and ARs seem to be the most available. As one gun dealer told me, "we like to sell Bushmaster because we can actually get what our customers want."
RRA seems to, also, be ramping up their production. However, getting the exact rifle you want from RR might take some patience.
That's like asking "what's the best car?"
I find that the gun shows provide a selection of complete uppers and lowers. Last month I picked a Bushmaster (new) complete upper from one dealer and a Bushmaster complete lower (new) from another. There was a choice of Stag, DPMS, RRA.
Colt carries the name but I think you will be happy with a combination of any of these.
Go with LMT. They are availbale from a lot of very reputable sellers. They are also the creme of the crop.

i just wanted some recomendations. i think i can get this guy to build me an ar15 for alot less than i can buy a new one.
i just want a nice upper with a 16 inch heavy barrel and a nice muzzle break
flat top configured with flip up iron sites.
some type of railed forend, i'm thinking i might mount a foregrip, maybe a flashlight or a lazer for fun
6 position collapseable stock,
can you get an ar set up for ambidexterious operation? i'm a "lefty" but i have always had to shoot guns set up for "righties"
a nice trigger set up.
but mostly i just wanted to get the best i could get. thats why i wanted to get recomendations.

You can get an ambi safety.....and you can use an extended bolt release so you can manipulate it easier.
Stag makes left handed ARs.....I dont know much about them though.
I just built my own. Honestly it wasnt THAT much cheaper.....might have saved $80 over what I could have bought a base model DPMS for. But I gained a little bit of knowledge and the one I built has a chrome lined bore and chamber, the cheapy DPMS one that was $80 more didnt.
The lowers goes together pretty easily....the instructions are very good over at AR15.COM. You can do it in less than an hour. You can but stripped lower for anywhere from $90 to $200, depending on a few factors. This part is the only part that goes thru an FFL.
Then you can just grab a kit from somewhere, this is the easiest. They will send you EVERYTHING you need except the stripped lower. The place I bought mine from isnt very popular here from what I can tell. A few people had troubles......most I know have had good luck.

Mine works fine....I cant speak for anyone else.
If you have someone to build it and your not comfortable then let them do it.....but its honestly not that hard. Im a ham fisted cobbler and I didnt experience a single problem. You gain all kinds of experience by doing it yourself.....and thats worth quite a bit.
This wasnt a "build the best" AR....mine was a "build a basic" AR. Nothing tactical or high end....just simple.

LMT, CMMG, Stag, BCM along with some others make great uppers.
Most any major manufactures lower will work, i'm currently running a Superior Arms lower and have nothing but good to say about it. Especially at less than $100 shipped.

DPMS also makes lefties, of which I own a 20" SS bull barrel....I also bought an A2 upper and later on bought a A4 Lower with 6 position stock and JP trigger installed for a total of $630, kind of hard to beat that price...
