Oh, ya...
Dates from 1996.
Had one issued years ago.
Had to give it back when we went to G23s.
Nice to have one again.

The 457 is a real sleeper. Those of us who have them know we got the real gem. Those that don't have them, well, don't tell them, they'll just drive up the price.
When I was running a couple of drug task forces I carried the 645 as my primary and my 457 as backup. Later when I moved on to another position I carried my 457 as primary. I've since removed the slip on grip. Too tacky for CCW for me. I carried Hornady 230 gr JHP +P. They're a bit slow opening but give good penetration and some expansion. At least 2 of our SWAT guys carry the 457 as their backups on their vest. Both feed anything you can put in the mag and accuracy is better than I can hold it. I've gotten 3" groups at 25 yds with my stock 457 using 230 FMJ. Mine isn't for sale. It would be one of the last I would ever part with. One of my all time favorites.

True words.

NICE G!!!
I also had a 457 that I regret selling(is selling a gun even good?) My daily carry is a 4563TSW that I really love as i have always preferred commander sized guns over all else.
I also concur that the 457 is a real sleeper, even in the land of Smith 3rd gens, which are sleepers themselves.

I just ordered and am expecting shortly a two tone 457 that I picked up on the Ivanhoe Wholesale website. They describe it as in Excellent condition. I will have to believe them until I see it. The photo they show looks exactly like the one you bought. I can't wait to get it. When I do, I will post pics. Here is a pic of the one they show on their website. It should be the same one I bought. OOOPS, it won't up load. Have to wait until I take my own pics.

Here is my new (to me)457 in two tone, with it's little bro, 908S.
I had one about 7 years ago and I traded it for a new 3" 66. I wish I still had that 457 great gun.
Yar, but a 3" M66 is rare.
I beleive it came from the custom shop because I don't think it was a standard factory option.
