View Full Version : Hunt with Desert Eagle
Anyone here hunt with their DE? If so what caliber and what game do you hunt? I've heard people hunt bears with revolvers, so I would makea guess the same can easily be done with the DE. Anyone here dropped a bear with your DE?
I have had a older model(MK1) DE for some time now. I bought it used but in new condition in 1990.It is chambered in .44mag. This is way before the .50A&E was ever thought up IIRC.
I was a guide in Maine, and I used it for tracking some wounded bear, moose, and deer. I have cleanly taken all three, plus coyotes, and "others" with the weapon. My load was the .444 Marlin bullet, the Hornady 265's. The bullet was driven max fast. I had several pass thru's in bear and moose. Later,I obtained a bunch of Black Talon's(250's) and used them to some success. They are slow for their weight. My 265 handloads were somewhat faster than the BT's.
I still have this weapon to this day and now being in Fla. have used it on some of the larger hogs. Now I load the 300gr Hornady XTP's which do an excellent job. They are one tough bullet.
My weapon has been fitted with a set of Millett sights and a Hogue grip. All critical to feeding and ejection parts have been highly polished. The trigger has been worked down to a no creep 5ish pounds also.
Off bags and bench, the DE will shoot 2" groups at 25yds with several different loads. All of which are the hottest possible.
I have several hunting pistols but I make sure my DE gets "equal time".
 That sounds Awesome....

Don't have bear hunting here, but hunt deer and hogs with both .50AE and .44mag from time to time.
