Hunting Shack in Montana is the company that does the reloading and uses Cabela's as a distributor.
Check and see how the shipping compares if you buy direct from HSM. Cabela's has better shipping based on purchase amount whereas HSM will probably charge shipping based on weight. You also get free ammo cans from Cabela's you could sell or keep. I think HSM gives you surplus ammo cans but not as many as what Cabela's gives you. If you can find a Cabela Coupon you might get a nice deal.
The ammo works fine. It's not the greatest for grouping but it's accurate enough. When shooting at night I've had some that threw a flame out of a 20" barrel and some that didn't. Recoil still felt the same for each round though.
I've tried their .223 55-FMJ, .223 55-SP, .40 S&W 180-HP, and .40 S&W 180-FMJ. My friends have also used their 9mm on top of what I've shot and no complaints about cycling problems or kabooms.

i'm still fairly new to ar's so sorry if this has been asked before..i couldn't find a post about it. i'm looking for a large amount of ammo for saving or plinking around. how does the cabela's ammo compare to say..wolf for cheap shooting? i know wolf is a little cheaper but what about quality . is there a big difference between the 2 rounds? other then being able to save the brass from cabela's rounds.
thanx
Seems kind of a moot issue since they're out of stock.
I wont shoot Wolf in my AR because it is Very Very dirty.
I have also experienced low powered rounds(short cycling) with Wolf, but thats not a big deal in plinking ammo.

The last time I bought from Cabelas (2 months ago) It was UltraMax in the box. It was not bulk packed either it was all packed in standard cardboard boxes and then in a larger box stuffed in one of those plastic ammo cans. All they had was HP and they caused a TON of feed issues. Now I shoot FMJ with 0 issues.
