View Full Version : Knoxx Specops finally shipped!
After a month, I called Knoxx to ask what was up with the order. The guy (very nice man) said that it shipped the day before. He said that the hold up was that they hadn't gotten in the recoil pads they usually use. Instead of holding up all the orders, they installed Limbsaver recoil pads. I'm supposed to get it Friday or Monday. I'll report my findings then.

I got 2 stocks one for my 14 inch Vang work gun and one for my 18 inch three gun shotgun. I felt a huge difference in felt recoil. its very worth it.

Sorry I didn't know that. I got a notice they had some in from my back order and I snatched 2 up. One for each of my 870's.

Sorry it took so long to reply. I've just moved to another state in the last week or two.
The Knoxx stock seems to be of quality construction and it installed easily. Btw, if you get the 3/16 ball ended allen wrench to install it, don't get a really long one or a really short one. It takes a little patience to get that screw tightened.
Otherwise it adjusts easily, feels nice, and looks cool! I haven't been able to shoot it yet because of my move and I don't know where to shoot it just yet. Have to report back about that later.
I do have one complaint though. The new recoil pad is a little sticky. By sticky. I mean that it hangs up on my shirt when I attempt to shoulder it. It's a Limbsaver. One off the reasons I bought this stock was that my factory stock was sticky and a little longish. The length has been taken care of, but now I still have the stickiness problem to deal with. Anyone have the regular recoil pad on theirs that can report their findings?

I replaced the recoil pad that came on mine with the Limbsaver from Knox. If you would rather have the Knoxx factory pad I would be glad to trade you out.

I like the stickyness of the recoil pad as it helps it stay put on my external vest carrier and not move around.

What is the factory recoil pad like? Slicker?

The factory pad seems slicker to me. It is thinner than the Limbsaver pad, and stiffer.

Both of my 870 combat shotguns have Knoxx SpecOps stocks on them, and I love them. Both have Limbsaver pads on them also. It may come down to your particular style, but I've found the grippy recoil pad to be a benefit to good shooting, not a handicap. It sounds like you might have the stock adjusted too long, and it's catching on your clothes.

I'll try your idea first and then think about changing the recoil pad. Thanks!

I've been mulling the idea over, of getting one of these stocks also.
Would you say they are well worth the money?

Between the adjustable length of pull and the recoil reduction, I think it's a bargain. That's why I own two. I took a very intense combat shotgun class about a year ago with a stock Mossberg. Between the stock being an inch too long, and the fact that my only source of recoil reduction was the factory recoil pad, I was hurting after 3 days and several hundred rounds of buckshot and slugs. The Knoxx stocks solve both problems, and are immensely more comfortable.

Yes for the recoil control and adjustability. Very well worth it.

Knoxx rocks on my 870 12ga!
I have the SpecOps Stock and it works exactly as advertised.
Check out the videos- Knoxx Stocks (http://www.knoxx.com/index.html)
Knoxx SpecOps stocks are well worth the $$$ and the wait (if there is a wait!)
This is my daughter's 870 that I set up for her, for HD.
With Remington 'Sluggers' it feels like a 28 ga on your shoulder.
This stock came from Knoxx w/ the Limbsaver on it.

I finally got mine after a 4 month wait from Cabela's... The funny thing was I had just placed an order with Knoxx as I was getting tired of the wait and 3 days later... Cabela's sent me an email that said it shipped:thumbsup:
After installing if I took it for a spin... the recoil reduction is impressive... reminded me a semi-auto .308 (M1A) variety push. I definately would do it all over again. It makes "pleasure shooting" a shotgun a whole lot better:hearts:

Great stock. Only problem I have had is when I shorten the stock to 13" or less LOP, I tend to look down on the rib a bit and the gun shoots high. Maybe I just have a fat face (or head), but with a vest on I need to push the butt out onto my arm more than my shoulder which isn't real comfortable....a skeet gun it's not, but it sure helps with the recoil.
