View Full Version : help changing stock
I need help gettting a new stubby stock on my ar15. I got the other stock off ( a non collaspible ) but when I screw the new one on because of the little nub on it, it just wont go the rest of the way, the little spring is always shooting off also how do you stop that. Should I be just screwing it in or doing something else? What parts do I need from the old one? It's a dpms ap4 carbine if that means anything.

Hope this help. I found this on "must read first" on this Forum.
You can use a razor blade (anything thin) to depress the take down detent spring while lowering the stock flange to hold the spring.
thanks guys i got the job done, the springs did fly away but i had extras.
I think you are having the problem because you are not using the entry stock to hold the takedown spring into the receiver. The entry stock uses a buffer tube similar to a full sized rifle tube but is cut down to carbine length. After you install the buffer tube you still need to install the stock to hold the spring in. The telestock has a plate to hold the spring in under the castle nut. You do not need this on an entry stock.
