i am putting the eotech 512 on my bushmaster do i need a riser mount? and if so what for? i see some rifles with it and some without. whats the point of this

The only reason that you might need one with an Eotech is if it would be more comfortable to look through if it was a little higher.

go to larue tactical's site and look at the pics regarding their QD Eotech mount. Their mount places the front sight in the bottom 1/3 of the EO window. This makes it so the front sight doesn't cover up as much of your viewing field.

If you have a flip front sight then having a riser isn't really needed unless you plan on using the BUIS all the time.

GG&G also makes a EO base that is quick-detach but doesn't change the height of the EO.

i have the standard front sight that came on my bushmaster, i am using the YHM rear flip up. I just want to know what to buy when i go to the show this weekend

If you want a repeatable zero QD mount LaRue is the answer.
