Brass Deflectors

i am reloading and i do not like chasing brass alot...
my AR sends it about 10+' to the right rear and then it is pretty scattered.
i am not really fond of the brass catcher bags they looks like colostomy bags hanging on your AR (no offense to anyone that uses them)

has anyone had any experience with using a brass deflector?
do they pile up the brass up neatly at your feet like i have read?

i dont want to invest $25 on a bent piece of steel that doesnt really work... and any good leads on decent prices on these items.
i shoot an eotech on a flat top

Had a couple installed on rifles when I shot for score in basic. Yes, they work. I don't know about a neat pile but they did deflect brass down/forward very consistently into the same area. A groundcloth etc placed there would make picking up your brass quick and easy.

have you ever diddled with the ejector spring... removing a few coils? i read on another site that that works well also?

I have had awesome results by trimming the ejector spring. My ejector is now just below the end of the bolt and my brass never goes more than 2' away while shooting offhand, and I can police brass without getting up from the prone or sitting positions. I do suggest you buy a couple extra springs before you start the trimming process. I simply used a Dremel tool to trim my springs.

If anything I would add a stronger spring, as I'm concerned about functioning in field conditions, not range use. :) So, no, never trimmed any springs.
