View Full Version : Accuwedge?
Accuwedge does this really help?
What does it do?

No, it has no effect on the accuracy of an AR.
it does pretty much what it says
Insert in a low shelf lower AR-15 lower receiver to tighten fit between upper receiver and lower receiver.
some AR's do not have a tight fit between the upper and lower their is wiggle when it is pinned together... this tightens the wiggle up.
i dont know how it affects accuaracy mine doesnt need one...
I don't see how it could affect accuracy no matter how loose the fit between the upper and lower. I don't like rattles though so I think the wedge is an improvement. Not a significant improvement but they're cheap.
The only drawback I can think of is that the takedown pin is slightly harder to push out. I squeeze the upper down a little with my left hand when moving the pin. Maybe it's not a drawback if your pin is too loose.

Do not confuse this device with the accu-wedgie.

+1 accuracy comes from the barrel, bolt fit, and ammo.
All the lower does is hit the firing pin.
Off the bench even a non-free float upper with a quality barrel, bolt, and ammo can out shoot an Upper with a mediocre barrel and bolt with a FF. Wrapped in a sling things can change.

An accuwedge is used to correct the slop that can occur betwwen the upper and lower halves of the receiver groups. This is something I would only recommend to someone who has a rifle that has this slop in it, otherwise it is a worthless investment.
I like and use these worthless accessories on all my AR rifles.
I don't care for loose uppper/lower fit and include one with all rifles I build for customers.
If they don't like them they can remove them and throw them away but I feel every AR rifle shooter should at least try one of these items.
This Transfer Device is used to encourage people to buy their accuracy rather then earn it. As a Transfer Device, it is used to transfer your money into the pocket of the person selling it to you.
If you have some wiggle between the upper and lower reciever, and it bothers you, the accuwedge will tighten it up a bit.
Does it increase accuracy or reliability, NO.
Do I use them, yes I do, but not all of my AR's need them.
For example, I have a STAG lower that is a registered SBR, it has a LMT 10.5" upper on it, it had quite a bit "slop" in it for my taste. So, I put and Accuwedge in it and it works fine and does what it is intended to do.
Eaxample 2, I have a STAG lower reciever on my RECCE AR, the upper reciever is a LaRue Stealth billet piece. This build is a very tight unit and an Accuwedge wouldnt fit no matter how much trimming you did to it.
In the end, it is a personal preference choice.
