Finally shot my Bushmaster

I have owned a 20" Bushmaster H-Bar for a few months now and I have shot it before but I was just plinking at targets of opportunity.

Today I did some formal shooting. Including some shooting from a bench. Here are my results/opinions.

1. The front sight sucks. The front post is too large. I would be happier if it was half the diameter that it is.

2 30 round magazines suck when shooting from a bench. I need to get some that fit near flush with the receiver. This is not a big deal when shooting while standing/kneeling.

3. The Bushmaster is more accurate than I thought it would be. If I concentrated I could get 2-2.5" groups at 100yds. Which is not terrible considering that I am not used to it and the sights are more crude than I am used too.

4. The buffer spring is anoying.

Just based on what I remember of my M16 in the Army 6+ years ago......

1. I use the top of the front sight post to aim. To me, the less empty space in the rear ring, the better.

2. I use C-products 10 round 6.8 mags. No problems or mods so far. Before the 10 rounders, my range bag fit the bill for 30 (26 in my 6.8mm Bushy)

4. I miss the echoing sound the buffer spring makes after each shot with an A2. That doesn't happen with the carbine stocks anymore. Like walking down memory lane.:thumbsup:
