Hi,
I bought a Mossy 500 about a year ago and love the way it shoots. Does anyone know if they make mag tube extensions for these and if so, would it make sense to buy one or to just sell this one and buy one with a stock higher capicity tube.
It's the second one from the bottom(like I had to tell anyone here that)
No, extensions, are available due to the way the 500 magazine works, the barrel screw attaches to the end of the mag tube.
Good news! I got a Speedfeed stock/fore grip combo and a Tac-Star 6 round sidesaddle for my 6 shot 500a. With all the ammo loaded the shells weigh more than the shotgun!
Here is my Mossi1 with it's 24" Smooth bore slug barrel, it also has a 18.5" barrel with a bead front sigh and hand guard.

I just got the Mossberg 2007 annual and buyers guide.
Currently:
The Maverick offers a 8 round setup in the Security model. The 500 Persuader/Cruiser series has a model with a pistol grip with stand off, a Tactical in Marinecote with adjustable stock, and a 500 with a synthetic stock.
You may find older 500s N.I.B. with variations barrels and features mixed and matched.
There are 8 round replacement magazine tubes which then require a new barrel. They require a torch to heat the Locktite on the receiver to remove the short mag tube. Then you will find most of the 8 shot barrels are cylinder choke with bead or rifled sights, vented hand guards, etc. You might find other configurations still exist in mail order catalogs or in stores.
  ;)
