Hillsdale, MI The Shooters' Alliance for Firearms Rights (SAFR) will present the Third Annual Family Firearms Day at Centerline of Calhoun County in Bellevue, Michigan on June 2, 2007, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Family Firearms Day is a free event designed to introduce families to the safe and fun use of firearms. All children who attend will be given a presentation on the safe handling of a firearm, as well as instruction on how to deal with firearms safety at home and with peers. Then they will have the opportunity to try out several shooting activities using .22 rifles, handguns and a modified version of trap shooting. Lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided for free throughout the day, and there will be goodie bags and door prizes.

In addition, there will be several demonstrations and activities taking place, including a rescue vehicle tour, a moonwalk, a rifle demonstration performed by ACTS (American Confederation of Tactical Shooters), a bird dog demonstration and others.

All shooting activities will be supervised by NRA certified instructors. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to participate.

SAFR is an organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of Second Amendment rights. According to John Johnson, Vice-President of SAFR, "Family Firearm Day is our way of promoting safe, fun, family involvement in firearms rights issues."

I was there and I thought it was a great idea. I brought my wife and daughter who each shot for the first time. They walked away with new respect and interest. Thanks for putting it on! Next time I am going to encourage some of my non shooting friends to come.
