I'm a fan of (good) lasers on guns.
I've got Crimson Trace grips on a S&W J Frame, S&W K Frame, Kimber Ultra and Beretta 21A 22LR.
And four Streamlight TLR-2 laser/lights on a 870, Ruger 22/45, Kel Tec PLR .223 and CZ 40P.

I do a little laser practice about 2-5 evenings a week.

One outstanding feature of the gun mounted laser is the ability to place accurate fast hits when it's required that the gun be held in different positions.

An example is something I like to do.
Shooting left and right hand from the hip.
I like the CT laser. :)

I agree. I love my CT grips on my G27.

They are a must for accurate point shooting but I also like them for dry practice. If I get get sloppy and mash the trigger or flinch during dry practice the dipping laser makes it much more obvious than practicing without them.

My wife has CT Laser grips on her SIG229. First class set-up. She loves it.
I have the CT Laser on my G17L. What a blast to shoot. With a tungsten guide rod and a brass "Seattle Slug" installed it has very little recoil and muzzel jump. The laser just makes it sooooo easy to shoot that its almost cheating!!!

Does the CT laser change the feel of the grip on your G27? I have a G26 that I was thinking of adding a CT to the grip. How easy is it to turn on? Does it click on when you squeeze the grip of the G26? Is it click on or only on while squeezing?

It changes the feel a little but I got used to it in a short time. Now the grip feels fine with the laser grip on or off.

There is no click. When you take your normal grip the laser turns on, when you relax your grip a little it goes off. With a little practice you can turn it on and off with ease.

I have a set on my Kimber Ultra and while they are very good for quick non-sighted shooting if you concentrate on the laser dot, I find the "wobble" a bit distracting while using the iron sights, so turn it off at times so I don't become too dependant on the laser. I also find that the switches could be better placed for my grip, or better yet the switches made BIGGER, like a pad instead of the button switch.

Do they plan on coming out with a green laser grip in the near future? Supposed to be easier to see in daylight, although I've never seen one in use yet.

I was going to start a seperate thread but you guys seems to be the perfect people to answer this question. On a Glock would do you rather have the CT grip lasers or a frame mounted laser like Streamlight? Let us assume that the G26 & G27 had a rail.

For Glocks, the CT Grips actually "bracket" the back of the gun's frame, and there are no on/off options. The laser is instant-on, always-on.

Based on the talk, a green laser option will be a ways off. They say the power demands of a diode green laser set-up are formidable, and battery life will be greatly reduced. The only real advantage is daylight visibility of the laser designator.

I don't have a Glock but I do have the CT lasers and Streamlight TLR-2 laser/lights mounted on several semi auto pistols.

The first question you have to ask yourself is will the added bulk of the Streamlight work with how you are going to use the gun?

Assuming the light hanging on the front of the gun isn't a problem, the next question is do I want a gun mounted light?

Assuming you like gun mounted lights (like I do) then your choice of laser has to be the Streamlight TLR-2.

I am a BIG fan of the Crimson Trace laser grips, I have four, and I'm looking at five.:)

BUT in the dark you just have to have a (bright) light.

I practice with my lasers 2-5 evenings a week and the Crimson Trace is fine most of the time but when you need a light, you need a light.

With the Streamlight on your pistol it's good to go 24/7.:)

It's all very personal...

Some Ifs:

1) If the gun had to be a Sub-Compact
2) If the gun is to be a "Dedicated" CCW
3) If I could adjust to the altered grip angle
4) If the neighborhood was REALLY awful!

I would choose the CT Grips over most rail-mounted lasers.

Some Becauses:

1) I would keep a Sub-Compact, "Sub-Compact"
2) Instant-on, always-on is fine on a single-purpose Jesus Gun
3) Ergonomics still count
4) I'd likely never use conventional sights!

Except for a couple of the rail-mounted lasers, like the Uni-Max, the light/laser combos place the laser emitter far from the bore axis, which creates a wide-angle "sweet spot" where the beam and bullet actually converge. I don't like that.

The CT Grips emitter aligns far more closely with the bore axis, creating a narrower angle sweet spot, over greater variations in range. I like that.
