Arsenal Arms SLR-95 AK 47

Bought some ammo at gun store today. Owner showed me this rifle and said it was a "steal" at $499.00, hardly fired and that owner wanted him to sell it for him.

It has a muzzel brake and a sling, some kind of black finish.

Just took a quick look, but may go back for it.

Is this a good price? What should I look for? Any problems with this rifle? I am thinking using it for home defense and general range use.

I know absolutely nothing about AK 47's or AR 15's but I am leaning towards getting into them to add to my collection.

Any help greatly appreciated.

The SLR-95 is one of the best AK's ever to hit our shores. If it has a muzzle brake, then it's an SLR-95MB. We're talking a 100% Bulgarian built AK with Steyr chrome lined barrel and an excellent quality milled receiver. The finish is a baked on paint over phosphate. They typically came in a white box, foam insert, one plastic 5 rd waffle mag, green sling, cleaning kit, oil/solvent bottles and manual.

I've never heard of any problems with the SLR-95. The asking price is reasonable if it's in excellent shape. When they were imported, CDNN was selling them for $299 each. You'll see them fetch upwards of $600-$700 on Gunbroker. While not exactly rare, the SLR-95 does have a bit of a cult following with AK aficionado's.

I have one with an ACE side folder on it. Definitely one of my favorite AK's.

They are great rifles and $499 is a steal. Go buy it now and don't look back.
