View Full Version : AmeriGlo Operator night sites
Got them in from Optics Planet. I'm just waiting on my sight pusher to come in from Brownells.

Great sights, and you'll need a good pusher. I had to lightly sand the base of the rear to get mine in. Some 400 wet dry on a flat surface worked out for me. Oil it good before you install it.

I have an MGW pusher en route. The rear shouldn't be too diffcult with the pusher. I've installed a Heinie rear with a punch and hammer once. Took forever.
They're next for me--in green/yellow!

I used a pos Glock pusher, fit the slide nice, but I think it was designed for the plactic sights. Good luck

Indeed. Mine are yellow rear. Good contrast at night. I love the subdued rear in the daytime.

MGW tools are nice. I bought the Ameriglo sight pusher directly from Ameriglo and it was the MGW. It was labelled as Ameriglo though, but you can tell it is the MGW. Definitely a must even if you only ever use it once. It is invaluable to have a good sight pusher. I bought the one for tall sights, since I previously purchased a ghost ring sight from Ameriglo. I then bought a classic sight and it worked just as good. There was somebody who runs an online store that said he used the tall sight pusher for everything without issues. He recommended a piece of a note card or something to cushion the angled sights from getting dented.
The Operator sights look like the classic sights, I'm guessing the operator sights are the same just without the white outlines.
Yeah, Operators have a white marker on the front sight only, which really "Pops" in the daylight sight picture. This is along the lines of the way my Dawson FO front "Pops" in contrast to the black iron sight.
The night sight picture is the familiar 3-dots.
I got to check these Operator sights out recently, and really liked them! In a darkened room, I was surprised that I took to the yellow rear & green front immediately; but I did! They are plenty bright too!
A very cool alternative to this approach comes standard on the Sig Sauer Equinox series, which use a TRUGLO TFO front and SIGLITE 2-dot,
tritium rear.
I really liked the P229 model of the above-mentioned gun, and they even let me take it in a darkened men's room, where I observed the unique sights (and new TLR-1). The daylight sight picture is very much like my DP FO, and at night, you get the familiar 3-dots. These were all green, but I'm sure a two color variety is doable.
After considering the Sig, I selected a new G17, and set about replicating those Equinox sights. This was a year ago... The best I could do, practically and cost-effectively, was to purchase a full set of TFOs, discard the rear, and match up an AmeriGlo rear to the TFO front. Both TRUGLO and AmeriGlo customer service were very helpful, but I could not purchase the single TFO I needed, without paying a large premium for it.
Given the fact that this was to be my range gun, and the quality control issues with practically all aspects of the TFOs at the time, their 90-day warranty, and the incurred waste of money by my throwing away a half-set of sights, I opted out of that plan and went with DP Adj/FO's from Custom Glock Racing. I couldn't be happier with that decision.
Still, that Sig Equinox sight set up is pretty sweet, and if single TFO sights ever become available at a reasonable price, and prove themselves rugged and reliable, I'm betting this will catch on.

My sight pusher was at my doorstep when I got home today.

Metal sight going in. It would of been impossible with a brass punch and hammer. Even with a pusher it took a little of effort. Still easy though. No filing of the sight was necessary.

Green on green.. I don't know about you guys, how "bright" should these be? I really like the sight though. My friend put mine on, he said the same thing, needs a pusher.
I was not sure if these need to be "charged" like your watch hands do, or should they just "glow".. either way they are MUCH better then the standard sights.
Only took me 4 years to replace them on my 23.. lol..
Was dead on with my carry rounds at the range at 12 yds.. so i'm happy i didn't have to tweak them.
Regards
Jeff.

I put a set on my G27, using an MGW sight pusher I got off of here. I love them, and will soon be adding a set to my G32.

How much was the rear sight tool?
Got it for $78 with an LE discount at Brownells but most places sell them for around $80 anyway. They were in stock at Brownells while others were sold out. Just so happen that they are now back in stock at Top Gun Supply.

When you create an account for the first time it asks you what your "business" is. Once you set up the account and log in it should show you retail and LE/trade pricing. Granted they can ask for credentials at any time.

I agree. I've had issues with my Glock sight pusher; so, after seeing these pics I ordered just ordered the MGW pusher.
