I was looking for some Ranger SXT for my G27. I was looking for the 165gr but all I could get was the 180gr stuff. Is there that much of a difference to mean anything??

Thanks.

180's are supposed to penetrate deeper. There is a debated risk of over-penetration in comparison to a 155 or 165.

You can look at all the lab test and what not but it just boils down to the fact that not every shooting is the same.

Statistically the majority of people shot by a handgun survive. There is no magic bullet or caliber that automatically ends situations. So to answer you question about how different the performance of a 165 or 180 is, there isn't a whole lot of difference, both the 165 or 180 bullet go into the BG and makes a hole.
