For an M4 platform, which is ok? 10.5 or 11.5? Pros & cons?

Will be used primarily for HD and some occasional plinking and funshoots. No long range roles for this, maybe 100-200meters (we dont have that big range in the Phils anyway). What brand, where available and how much?

Try True Weight for quality branded parts for AR platform.

10.5" cl/cb i/7 twist bbl would be nice, ala MK18. just make sure you upgrade your bolt and have heavy buffers around. A krink flash hider is nice too, really helps when shooting in low light and indoors. Otherwise shooting a shortie indoors is not a very good idea...

11.5 inch barrel vs 14 on most shortie, how much of velocity is loss? Is 11.5 only good for 100 yds distance?

What are the cons of cutting a 14.5inch barrel (or any barrel) to 10.5 or 11.5 inches?

Who can do this properly in RP?

the gun jams, cyclic rate goes up when you cut the barrel, consequently the mag spring cant keep up....

so it will be best to buy an 11.5 barrel instead of cutting a long one?

i hope to find one though. so i dont have to cut a barrel.

why cut in the first place? the m193 bullet needs to attain a certain velocity to be effective, if you cut velocity goes down, effectivity/knockdown power goes down. i saw this sa discovery channel, the m193 bcos of its very high speed and very light weight yaws when it hits the target and fragments.....this is where it is most effective.

this will definitely affect the velocity. but i want something compact. an mp5 will be better, but hard to find and very expensive. i can use a lighter bullet head to attain the velocity required for an sbr, and the velocity is what makes the .223/5.56 round effective.

thanks for all the unputs.

11.5 IMO. Look for either Sabre Defence(SDI) of Bravo Company(BCM) Uppers in that size.

For an HD firearm, get a pistol. A friend suggested to me to get a modified pistol for a "headboard" gun.

I'd go for an 11.5" vs a 10.5". A 1" difference can help a lot.
