I was wondering what you guys and gals are carrying in your pocket rockets, i have been carrying PMC starfires as of late, what do you guys think is a good round for the snub? and what ammo gives good results out of the 2 1/2inch barrel? does anyone carry hardball? all comments and info are welcome, i would like to see what you guys think of your ammo selection, OH, has anyone shot the buffalo bore ammo yet? if so how would you rate it.

I have plenty of the Speer 135gr +p GDHP and the old 125gr Federal NyClad HP lyin' around. Either one suits me fine.

The Speer (or any +p) kicks too much for to enjoy practicing with it, so the next time I buy snub ammo I'll be taking a very close look at the Buffalo Bore low-recoil stuff.

I carry standard pressure 147 grain copper jacketed wad cutters. Since Fuzzy has stopped making Safe Stop Ammo thats as close as I can get to his round.

I'm a glutton for punishment, I guess...

158gr Fed Hydrashocks (.357)

The shop I frequent didnt have any other "decent" ammo in a 158gr load.

Buffalo Bore 20D (150 very hard cast full wad-cutters, standard pressure but +P performance)

For back up gun purposes, we get the Federal 110gr +P+.

But when I change out my old ammo, I don't shoot that through my 640. It would give me too much of a "hurt" on my hand. I shoot the old ammo through a lever action Winchester .357.

But, If I had to put 5 rounds of the stuff into someone, It would work in the little 640.

In my 640-1, I use Gold Dots. Then there are Gold Dots. Of course, there are always the Gold Dots.

I usually only carry my S&W 340 PD revolver and it's loaded with 145 grain Winchester Silvertips in .357 magnum. If my girlfriend is carrying one of her revolvers, Speer Gold Dot .38 special +P in her model 60 and 32 H&R magnum with 100 grain Gold Dot bullets from Georgia Arms in her S&W 432.

The Speer GDHP in 135gr. +P is awesome! Very hot and not fun to practice with...but BLAMMO! Although I don't have info concerning real life shoots, I bet it hits like a mule.

My snub-nosed revolver is loaded with 300gr Winchester jacketed flat points... only 'cuz they were out of anything heavier.

'Course, my snub is also a .454 and mainly carried to keep the bears away...

Not to highjack, but where did you get your M&P 340? I've been looking everywhere I know of.

I bought it from Targetmaster on Rt 202 in Chadd's Ford which is where I do most of my shooting. I am very happy with the gun although it has taken practice to shoot competently. I was set to get a regular aluminum J frame but the tritium front sight of the MP hooked me.

I think I'll be there today so I'll see if they have anymore.

My SP101, 2.5" M66, and 4" M66 all get loaded with 125 grain SJHP remington .357's for carry.

For general shooting, I'll stuff them with midrange .357 handloads or mild 38 handloads.

Speer 135gr +p GDHP

I shoot Georgia Arms +P 158gr LSWC, which is actually a HP, from my 2" 10 and 642 for practice, with Remi R38S12 +P 158gr LHPSWC's, the 'FBI load', for carry. They are nearly equivalent ballistically, while the G.A. rounds cost a fraction of the Remi's cost.

My 2.5" 296, a 5-shooter Airweight .44 Special, gets GA Arms 200gr Gold Dot JHP's. It shot many a similar Blazer round - until I had my first of any kind of Blazer Al case rupture. Besides - the Blazers, once $12.86/50 locally, are now more than the G.A. ammo in new Starline brass - which I reload for my other .44's.

Speer Gold dot for short barrels in .357 mag.

VERY accurate ammo and great velocity. Recoil out of my S&W 640 is stout but managable

All things considered barrel length, bullet weight, bullet type (jacketed vs non-jacketed) etc. I carry Buffalo Bore heavy 158 gn 38 +P lead hollow points (L.S.W. H.C-GC) rated at 1000fps & 351 ft lbs. in my S&W Model 442.
