View Full Version : SuperNova: Any other mag tube ext? Experience with recoil reduce or gel pads?
Just picked up a NIB SuperNova Tactical (feels great to me.) I've only ever fired Remmie 870's. Can someone tell me if the shorter 13.5" gel pad has good recoil reducing traits? Also, how do the mercury recoil reducers (and brackets) actually work? Any help is appreciated.
Anyone have good success with aftermarket mag extensions???

I run a Sims Limbsaver pad on my SuperNovas, and it is great at reducing recoil. I've got the slip-on variety, and I like it. I've never tried the factory gel pad or the recoil reducer though.
As for magazine tube extensions, try either www.surecycle.com or TacStar. The Sure Cycle one is about $100, and a tube from TacStar is about $40. I'm not sure of the build quality of either because I have Benelli extensions on both of my guns.

Those supernovas look great!
I have the recoil reducer on my plain 'ole regular nova.
It works pretty good. I wouldn't consider shooting powerful
loads without it.
Thanks for the replies. Seems like we are the minority of tactical shotguns.

I know it is late, but still going to check in.
I too have a Benelli Nova Tactical that I've installed a recoil reducer in. I don't notice a big difference with the 2 3/4 OO buck that I shot on a normal basis as I don't consider the recoil bad at all. However, I will be taking a tactical shotgun class at the beginning of October. I'll let you know how it works then, and if there are any major problems.
I've already talked with the instructor. He mentioned the Benelli is a good functional shotgun, but majority of people go with something like the Remington 870. We seem to be a small group using the Benelli, but the Nova is a relatively new pump on the market. I think with time, the accessories will become common and gather more of a following.
Have fun with your Benelli!
