ooooouuuuuuuccccccchhhhhhhhh
500gr too much? it blew dust from the ceiling of the range and made some old guy three lanes over pee his pants. i do believe my wife is sterile now from being near this thing as it went off (sweet). this thing was painful to shoot. it was awesome. everyone should own one maybe two. now i need to get into reloading...
btw: if you ask the guy who owns the range if you can shoot the 500 there with 500gr bullets, it will take exactly two shots before he comes to you and says that he changed his mind, and that you can't shoot it indoors.
I bet the 500 grainers were attention getters.

LOL,
I have the same problem at my local indoor range. It looks like its snowing.
Just wait till you start reloading, I load the 440grs in front of as much H110 as my brain will allow and its awesome.
The range guys like me to show up about 4:30pm on saturdays and start cranking those off and everybody packs up and leaves (1:30 early  )
They usually let me shoot for free and I can sweep all the range brass I want. :hearts:
Night time pic I snagged off here, (not mine), same load though.

Me and my girlfriend fired a 4" S&W 500 along with one of their 460s a couple of months ago at Smith & Wesson days. I really want one, but until I reload...

H-110 is a surefire way to make any magnum caliber revolver become a fire-breathing beast. God I love that stuff.

You know it epsy!!
I know there are guys that load the .500 with a lot faster powders and lighter charge weights, I just can't bring myself to download the .500. I bought it cause I like recoil, blast and concussion, and that's just the way I roll...:supergrin:

I'll look up the info where I bought the cartridges and post it. I got a sample pack that was priced decently and well worth it.

I talked to Bill on the phone a couple times. Hella nice guy.
I didn't shoot anything interesting with the 700's but I nailed a coconut with a 440 grain. The thing just exploded, and I was lucky not to get hit with any pieces as the flew back at me.

Hey Eddie,
Anytime you get the urge, shoot me a pm and we can meet up at the Sebastian/Fellsmere range. Split ammo costs with me and you can shoot it all day. (Along with a few 10mm's of course  )
I love the 500mag. Mine is a 3" Raging Bull.

I have the 500 in an 8" barrel and call it my Smith & Howitzer. I love to take it to the indoor range near where I live and keep thier rafter free of cobwebs. The folks that work there thinks it's pretty funny that a girl like me can shoot a gun that most big guys won't touch. In fact I found out recently that people I've never met have heard of me there.
Great fun to shoot, very accurate and cured me of flinching with my smaller calibers.
