Scored these off eBay for $16. I love natural wood and I think these look awesome. I can't wait to see them on the gun!

I decided to try a pair of smooth grips on my SA GI because the checkered walnut chafes after a while.

Does the checkering chafe on your hands while you're shooting or on your body while you're carrying?

On my love handle when carrying.

Spend 6 hours with them today at 3:00 w/ a full CTAC forward cant out in 85° heat. The sweat brought the grain of the wood out a little. I may have to sand it back down. But it was comfortable all day! I would post pics of them installed but I think my camera is in my girlfriend's car.

The left grip really looks nasty but I think I can fix it.
From GunGripGuys.com: "All our grips are handmade, then sanded to a high gloss shine with 2000 grit sandpaper, and oiled with tung oil."
Easy enough, right?
Those look thick. Are they thicker than the factory ones? I see you painted the front sight too. What kind of paint did you use? I have the SS version that I love. I think I may carry it when it gets cold again. There`s mine.....

They're no thicker than the factory grips believe it or not. I'm ashamed to admit it although it was just a test to see if it made any difference, but the front sight has Bic White Out brushed on it. I would like to add better sights soon but I'm trying to force myself to get used to the GI sights first.
I take it you carry in a IWB. Is that your only carry pistol or just your favorite? I`m just curious. Mine came with a belt slide holster that is great with a long shirt or coat.

Yeah, I have CTACs for all my guns. My usual carry is a Glock 26 but I rotate the others in sometimes. My GI came with a belt holster as well but even with the adjustment screw removed it doesn't always want to let go of the gun.
I've trained and carried for two years with the CTAC now and I'm very comfortable with it. It took some out of the ordinary adjustment but I got my 1911 to click in and out just like the squared-off Glocks.
