View Full Version : Converting G27 to 9mm... what's needed?
A question... besides BARREL and MAGs, are any other changes required to convert a G27 to shoot 9mm with every bit as much reliability as a 26?
I'm not looking for the quickest/cheapest conversion, but one which results in no compromise in reliability.
Extractor? (Same or different from 27 to 26?)
Recoil spring? (Same or different from 27 to 26?)
Ejector? (They look a little different - angle - from 27 to 26?)

I do my G-35 with a LWD conversion Barrel and mags only. I was prepared to change the extractor and ejector, but it wasn't needed. It has been 100% reliable. The .40 ejector is angled in, while the 9mm is straight. Recoil spring is the same. IIRC, the extractor is different.
Just start with the barrel and mags and see how it works. I would set up a complete extra trigger group (ejector, trigger and bar, trigger spring) instead of changing the ejector back and forth. Not that expensive.

Rik... thanks... yes, the idea of simply buying an extra trigger group/ejector block is perfect.... not expensive at all. And I might as well throw in an extractor from a 26 while I'm at it... then at least I'm creating the most ideal environment for top reliability with 9mm in a Glock 27. By that type of thinking, I might as well toss in a 9mm recoil spring.
Guess I'll buy a 27 rather than a 26 and set it up for both 40 and 9.

Let us know how it works out. I have a G27 and am considering doing the same thing. For 100% reliability I have always been told you needed the G26 Extractor and Ejector because they are different. I think the recoil springs are the same.
Texagun... recently, since buying my 19 and 23, I've found the 23 (19 also) to be easy for me to carry concealed... and it easily slips into the pocket of my motorcycle jacket for carry when I'm riding.
The 23 offers better shootability, quicker return to target, and greater capacity than a 27 and I have no problem concealing it, so at this point, I'm not really feeling a *need* to buy a 27.... though I wouldn't mind having one for fun! ;-)
The 23 seems to be a perfect carry gun - just the right combination of size, weight, caliber, capacity, and reliability. Around the house I keep it loaded with a 15-round mag for 16-rounds total. When carried, I put the stock 13-round mag in it for 14 rnds on tap and carry a 15-round reload in my pocket. The Glock 23 is a tough act to beat, that's fo sure! And if I feel the need to shoot 9mm... my 19 is also a tough to beat.
