toyota = uber reliable, i have 2 freinds both using a taco with no kind of issues what so ever

some of the nissan trucks had some brake issues, i was at a BMW dealership, and over heard a guy complaining about his brakes going bad on his 2week old nissan truck

Tacoma, no contest at all. The plethora of aftermarket parts available vs. a very limited selection for the Nissan makes the choice a no brainer. The older generation of Tacoma's are also a bit smaller than the current crop.

The answer is always, "Get the Tacoma!".

The fact that you want to off-road it makes it, "Get the Tacoma!!!!!!!!".

The new frontier is a big improvement but they still can't touch the taco. Find a Taco and Frontier sitting next to each other so you can compare, it really is "No Contest".

Have you priced used Tacomas lately?? They sure do hold their value.

Oh yeah, when I was looking for my truck I was waffling between the Taco and the S-10 ZR2. The Z is way more capable out of the box and was several thousand cheaper than the Toy. So I went Chevy. Next time I'm going Tacoma. The lack of aftermarket support meant I had to fab everything myself which was fun, but spending a week bending and welding tube when I could have been wheeling was a turn off. I wound up sinking the S10 and selling it a couple years later, but an early Tacoma 4-door is going to be my next truck. A couple glamour shots for your enjoyment.

I believe that would be TACOMA for the win:supergrin:

It's the one truck that I have had that I wish I could have back.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like everyone loves the tacoma. I see your point about the aftermarket parts. Also, someone told me ease of maintenance and availability of parts is definitely on the side of the toyota. I'm definitely leaning towards the tacoma.

I say Tacoma all the way. I'm on my second one now. It's a 07 doublecab 4x4 v6 loaded up with everything. Great ride, power, and practical.

I generally extricate Toyotas over Nissans 2-to-1...

I just bought a Frontier, and I liked it way better than the Tacoma, and it was waaaay cheaper. Toyota capitaizes on people that say "Oh the Tacoma is the best never buy anything else" when for the most part the Frontier has been reviewed more favorably in many different places. When I went to the Toyota dealer, they acted like they were God's gift to truck sales, and didn't seem to eager to deal. Totally opposite at the Nissan dealer, and my truck is about $4k cheaper than a Taco equipped the same way.

I drove both, and the Taco is a nice truck, but I liked the Frontier much better. I'm sure if you get one it will be just fine, just don't buy into the whole hype that they are the best trucks ever ever ever.

Toyota, I have never known a Toyota pickup owner who did not love their truck. My sister put 247,000 miles on one before I bought it to play with, then I sold it to a couple of brothers across the street who still use it to haul their dirt bikes.
