Humidity, don't forget the humidity. It was 97 in Las Vegas on June 17, when Navin and I shot the match in 14% humidity. Sunday just about did most of us in here in Mississippi with the high humidity. I drained a Camelbak filled with ice and water before finishing the 2nd stage, and broke into the cooler on the 3rd stage.

It was so hot I even let Steven & Phillip sit in the vehicle with the AC running at the 3rd stage.

I suggest I try to get there earlier next month and help set up earlier, do you think we could try to start shooting at 8 AM to get away earlier.

I was looking forward to the ICORE match this month, sadly I'll be sitting on a beach in Hawaii, flying out of Jackson on the 27th. No worries, I get back the Saturday afternoon before August's (IPSC) match.

This past weekend I didn't get to Pearl till 4pm on Sunday, woke up that mornin at 5 to come to the match, decided sleep was more important.

Bought a SW 460, if I could find speed loaders for it, I'd use it for ICORE.

Ouch!

.460 is a tough gun. You're really gonna try to shoot that in ICORE?:couch: :faint: :okie:

45 colt is legal eh? No different than 38 special in a 357 Mag. I'd figure that the 460 would be quite punishing to the steel, a 200gr @ over 2kfps.

For speed shooting, the 200gr Hornady load would suck, but it's hardly a thumper of a load. Recoil increases with heavier bullets they say, hopefully I'll get to reloading for it this week.

They had an airlite 44mag, that 26oz beauty would be a real thumper! Also an 8 shot airlite 357 snubby weighing 16oz I believe. The 460 is quite a blast to shoot, pun intended :)

I'd also think that the 5 shot would put me at a disadvantage capacity wise. I'd think 8 shot wheel guns aren't legal?

Looking forward to getting back down there :)

I suppose a lightly loaded 45 Colt would be OK. We'd have to see.

Five shots would put you at a disadvantage but 8 shots are legal in ICORE. Currently the ideal ICORE gun is a 627 8 shot 38 Super, with a 627 8 shot 357 in second place (shooting 38 Special of course).

I think you'd have longevity problems with the airlites. Most people wouldn't enjoy the recoil over long shot strings.

Of course airlites would suck for competing, only mentioning that in passing.

I'll check out the 627's, thanks for the advice Haras :)

I'd assume moon clips are prefered over speed clips?

Back from my trip, had a great time. My Dad gave me a taurus 605 2" barrel hammerless 5 shot while I was there so I"ve added a revolver to the collections. It's a few years old but has probably had less than 50 rds thru it.

Local shop has a 627 Performance Center in 357, cut for moon clips, for $1k. I don't rightfully care for the grips, but I'd assume they can be changed. I am also not crazy about the barrel's profile, but that's a PC character mark.

Mulling it over at this point, don't have 1k of blow money this close to the HI trip.
