Recently bought mine and I've seen a lot about the gun being fussy about ammo. So far, I've shot 300 rds of Blazer Brass without problems, and 50 rounds of Tactical Hydrashock. Didn't seem to like WWB so much. So does anyone else have any other favorites that seem to work well? Wondering about the Corbon rounds maybe.

My practice loads are all hand rolled 230 grain RN, and I haven't had any problems yet. As far as self defense is concerned, I have had pretty good luck with Remington Golden Sabres. I had a couple of Speer Gold Dots hang up on the feed ramp, so I made a quick switch. I'd be interested to hear what other G36s run.

cessnastud: Thanks for sharing that about the Speer Gold Dots. I think that is what I have in the G36 magazine at this time, so I may reconsider. I have not shot this piece much, so I do not know what it really likes. Have not noticed any problems, as of yet. This post and this new forum has made me want to shoot the G36 next time out. Take care and stay safe, Rob

For target shooting, I use Blazer 230's mostly but sometimes just take what the range has if I am short. I have used most cheap target 230's with no major issues. I have had a few hang-ups but I cannot recall specifics. I have run a lot of Speer GD 230's through her without a hitch. Maybe they run best on what they have had a steady diet of? I have run some Federal, some TAP, and a lot of GD's. GD's just digest better in mine. That is what I have stuck with for SD carry.

Aluminum Blazer is the only FMJ I've run through mine. As far as HP's, I've tried a wide variety and I go with 230gr +P HST's for carry ammo. I haven't had a problem with anything.

I've shot:

Corbon +P 165gr
Corbon +P 200 or 230 gr I can't remember
Triton 230 gr
Rem Golden Saber 230 gr
WWB 230
Rem UMC 230
CCI Blazer steel and brass 230
Wolf 230

I carry with Rem GS 230 and practice with CCI blazer brass 230 or Rem UMC 230.

The only rounds mine had a problem with were the old Wolf green colored. I think the laquer made the cases oversize and they kept getting stuck in the chamber.

I have shot 5k+ rounds through my G36. G36 is go.

American Eagle 230 grain ammo. This is what I spit out at the range or Winchester white box 230 grain. I've rented the 36 many times and tried a range variety of ammo and never had a problem with the dirty range gun.

Don't believe the hype of the nay-sayers! I love my 36! It's my daily carry!

I'm right at 1k on mine right now and it has mostly been WWB and UMC with some re-manufactured 230s here and there. Speer Gold Dot 230s and Rem Golden Sabers on some occasions.

After all the bad rap the 36 was getting I was apprensive for the first 300 or so rounds but eventually I began to relax and now I don't event think about it. The G-36 is the unsung hero of the Glock line if you ask me. It is, in my opinion taking alot of bashing and I'd be willing to bet that 90% of all reported problems are caused by the shooter, his mags or his ammo and NOT the gun itself.

Sure is nice to have this forum here for those that got it right to enjoy!

Appreciate all of the feedback. Had not read all of the negative comments until after buying the gun and ordering the $100 custom holster.Good to hear that maybe they were just a vocal minority after all. Sure enjoying mine alot so far. Thanks!

I use 230 Blazer and 230 American Eagle for practice. Both are good loads in the 36. For a little more power I like the 230 Double Tap TMJ. My favorite SD load is the Hornady 230+P TAP.

Good Subject Krankher!!

I have only run Blazer Brass through mine for the first 700 rounds. I am in the process of deciding which SD load to carry. After reading this I think I'll try the Remington Golden Sabres.

Thanks Everyone!

I usually rotate my G36 (and my G27 and G32)for my weekly range sessions, firing 200-300 rounds of my reloads at each session. In the 18 months that I've had my G36 I calculate that 24 range sessions were devoted to .45 ACP and that over 5,000 rounds have been run through my trusty 36 without any problem whatsoever. Three mags of Federal Hydra Shok, Remington Golden Saber and Speer Gold Dots and the rest Rainier, Montana Gold and Frontier 200 gr TCJFP and 230 gr plated RN. Not one failure to feed, fire or eject. Glock perfection!

Mine never did like the wide mouthed Cor-Bons.
However, mine is a very early model. Glock may have tweeked the feed ramp since I got mine!!

I use standard old fashoned Federal Hydro Shoks.

Nothing wrong with the 230 Federal Hydra-Shoks. They have got the job done for years.

Broadened the horizons for my G-36 today. Been hearing about how cheap Blazer Brass is at Wally World so, inspite of my reservations about CCI I decided to invest in a couple of boxes on the chance that it might be a good deal.

It IS! $9.47 for a box of 50 230 gr FMJ. I bought 2 boxes and fed one to my G-21 and one to my 36. They both ate it like candy!!. That was a nice enough experience but what really surprised me was how ACCURATELY I shot with them. Just as good if not better than all others FMJ or Hollowpoint I have ever used. They will gettcher gun very dirty but that is the only negative thing I noticed. UMC does the same if not worse. 'Tain't no thang...

My 36 is such a pig. I wouldn't be surprise to learn that it was made in Lousiana...it'll eat ANYthing.

For street use, I carry the CorBon 165 gr. Pow'r Ball at 1225 fps. Good stuff. For practice, I usually use the 230 gr. Winchester White box.

For range, I use CCI Blazer aluminum and brass, Fiocchi and Winchester White box. For defense, I have used Federal HydraShok, EFMJ and Speer Gold Dots.

Remington Golden Sabers seem to be the best feeding hollow points in 45 ACP in both the hardd to feed early 1911's and the G36. I like the standard pressure 230 grain Golden Sabers over the 185 grain +P Golden Sabers but both feed well.

For plinking/target, Miwall factory reloads @ OMC (http://www.outdoormarksman.com/product_info.php?cPath=65_1_21&products_id=455) @ $94.95 +shipping per 500 are hard to beat. Just yesterday morning I was out in the desert with my G36, G21SF, and mags full of the stuff.
