View Full Version : Vista - OEM or Upgrade?
OK, thinking about getting Vista. Price for OEM "builders" version is $30 less than the "upgrade" version.
What am I missing here?
I assume that I can just reformat the hard drive and install the OEM version. Right?

I always thought that "Upgrade" meant that the install procedure went looking for an existing installation of a previous version of Windows.. but I have done an "updrage" in years so I could be wrong..

With an upgrade you just need an older Windows CD,. The system doesn't have to be installed on the hard drive. With upgrade you might get some Microsoft support. With an OEM version the support goes to the vender and you must pay for direct Microsoft support.
