View Full Version : best place to get mag tubes and barrels for mossberg 500
I have a persuader that I would like to put a 18.5 barrel and 5 round tube on.
Where is the cheapest place to get these from.
Better yet where would I look to find them used?
i want to do this as cheaply as possible.
Thanks.

Take a look at some of the local gun shops, especially the ones the local cops frequent. Then there's always E-bay, I got a 20" smooth bore slug barrel with rifle sights for about $90. For the mag extension, check out tacstar.com . They carry those for the 870s and Mossys as well.:)

Try Brownell's for the Mossberg 18.5" barrel and 5-round magazine tube for your Mossberg 500. I suspect you already have the 20"/7+1 round version and want to convert it to the shorter 18.5"/5+1 version?
Perhaps someone else will know what's involved in unscrewing an existing Mossberg magazine tube, regarding tools & technique, if any. Is it possible just to unscrew it bare-handed?
After seeing the prices for the two parts, ~$143+shipping, you might want to just buy another Mossberg, and own two.

A parting thought. When it comes to guns, "as cheaply as possible", isn't always the best way to do things. If you do have the 20"/7+1 version already, then don't bother spending the money to convert it at all. (the round counts are taken using "standard" 2 3/4 shotgun shells, btw.)
