Was just reading what I could find on the web about my 36 and discovered a recall. Said the rear frame rail could possibly break. Called Glock and they said it was extremely rare and if it did happen I wouldn't even know it until I cleaned the gun afterwards. This gun is made in 2002 (EVR serial) and was part of the recall. Kinda torn on this. Only had it a couple months and hate to part with it so soon. Also it is the only pistol I presently own. Anyone heard of this or had this experience themselves? Not sure if it big enough problem to worry about.

This is part of the "E" recall. Call them back, they will give you prepay authorization to ship it yourself, they should only have it a few days, I believe it is sent directly to you. Shouldn't cost you anything.
You might want to post this in the general masses area, there are more than just G36s that were involved, and you would get probably some personal experiences about this. And maybe better info than I gave you.

That doesn't sound too bad then. I'll give them a call back and set that up. Thank you for the info.

As I recall Glock got a bad batch of substandard polymer.
If I remember correctly, it was not just the G36, but all guns made in that serial number that were affected!!
Call Glock up and they'll give you a new frame. They will also take care of the serial number with the BATF.
Your new frame should have the same serial number so you won't have to re-register it with your state, if you are forced to so do!!
I had the same thing done with my Kel-Tec P3AT and it came back with the same number.

The Exx Glock frame replacement isn't because of the plastic. It's the way the metal slide rails in the top of the frame are made and the type of metal used. Comparing the weaker ones to the stronger rails, look at the rear rails. The bend/turn in them are much sharper than the stronger ones. The stronger ones have more of a curve or radius. If they fail, they can be seen broken with the slide removed.
