I would appreciate some opinions concerning a problem with my grandsons computer. Everytime he starts his computer the "checking drive C for errors" comes up. Does this mean he is having problems with his harddrive? Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

Is the computer being shut down properly? If the operating system is not shutdown before the power is turned off that will happen. It could be another problem but that is the obvious one.

You can try doing a chkdsk /f /r from the command prompt. That will do a through disk check the next time you reboot. Sometimes that will fix disk problems. If it can't fix it it should at least give you more information about the problem.

My computer knowledge is limited but when the check disk runs as far as I know no problems are found. This is why my confusion as to why check disk wants to run at startup if it finds nothing could the harddrive still be at fault? Thanks
