Kimber Raptor..
How would you rate this gun?
I want a 1911...I looked at one today for $1k at a local shop. The gun was a sexy beast... I do not have a 1911....I have a lot of guns but mostly stuff like glocks, xds, black pistols, etc... I want a nice gun for fun and show.... 1000 dollars give or take is gona be about my limit...I also like the ultar and the pro coverts...I think they were around 1100... I am moving to MO in the next few months so CCW is going to be an option...I could see myself getting both of these at some point...I would not want to CCW the Raptor....
#1 how would you rate these pistols as a whole?
#2 how do they rate in the 1911 world in this price range?
#3 is this a good price?
#4 what if anything can you tell me about these 2 guns?
Thanks
JAYAK
Kimbers are mid range 1911s. I like mine very much. I like the look of the Raptor as well.
Mine is the Pro CDP II.

I payed $1100 for mine so to me the price is good.
Kimber is just mid range?
I always thought they were up there higher...
Should I just get a SA 1911 then? They are about 4-5 hundred cheaper...

Kimbers are definately mid range. A high end or custom 1911 is going to cost you at least $1500-$1800. Most are well over two grand.
Firing my Kimber after my Ed Brown is a big difference.
The standard SA is a low end 1911. They are still very good, but lack many of the features and production expenses of higher priced models. The Kimber Raptor is a big step up over most Springfield 1911s.

1-IMO kimber =
2-and most people will consider the Kimbers as the MID range 1911 the raptor is sure on the top tier of that mid range list, i dont really see a point on paying much more for other brands
3-that price mentioned is awesome brand new raptors go for about $1250 here in cali, picked mine up for $1100 brand new at a local range
4-i love my kimber, ive had my raptor for about 2-3months, ive shot more than 2250rds thru it, super accurate, no malfunctions except for when i used cheap 10rd mags from ebay, they FTFeed a lot with those mags, but other than that it has been the shizzle!!!

excellent review!
I think the gun I looked at was on sale because it was new... both the kimbers I looked at were. I agree, why pay 1800-2000 for a 1911...how much nicer can they be....especially for me.. a dude who just shoots combat pistols....these guns seemed sweet as hell to me.
There is probabally 1000 rounds through mine . anything from WWB, high dollar self defense ammo and reloads...not 1 problem out of this gun!!

sexy raptor!!!
What do you guys think about a springfield loaded instead of the covert?
http://www.springfield-armory.com/armory.php?version=8
how would this rate in regards to a kimber pro or ultra carry?
Is there a better place other than glock talk for me to go and read up on these guns?
Thanks

The STI Ranger II....thoughts..
sorry guys I am just trying to figure out what 1911 to get....
Is STI better than kimber, springfield, etc....

I fired close to 800 rounds thru my ultra raptor without any problems. I think it is well worth the money that I spent for it. It is extremely easy to conceal, reliable and accurate.

I purchased a Pro Raptor II a couple of years ago, shortly after Kimber introduced them. I got it purely for one reason: it looks so great. Mine is older, so it has an external extractor, but it has always functioned 100%. The only issue I ever had with the weapon was its ejector needed adjustment, because empty brass would randomly hit me in the face. Dennis at the Kimber Custom Shop took great care of me. The pistol was adjusted and test-fired quickly, and I had the Pro Raptor back in less than 10 days, with a couple of complementary Kim-Pro magazines.
The Raptor series comes from Kimber's Custom Shop, so it's definitely at the high end of Kimber's offerings at $1,000+. It's a very nice weapon that I wouldn't consider getting rid of.
Kimbers, very nice to look at.;)
Dennis
If the Kimber Raptor doesn't have the firing pin safety I get one in a heart bit.
