I've decided on CMMG for the upper. I'm meaning this upper to be sort of a DMR and I want the 18" Length. I'll be doing most of my shooting at 100-200 yds w/ a Burris 2x-7x. So it ain't meant to be a super tack-driver, but accuracy is always nice. I want to shoot the heavier bullets 69-77 gr. Considering my purpose, I like the accuracy potential of CMMG's new SS barrels. Some have told me that the SS won't last as long as a chrome barrel, but the SS is hard stuff and after break in it's easy to clean and pretty slick...in terms of reliability. No, it won't be as good for reliability as chrome. IS that correct?
So, what y'all think?

SS won't be all that bad... it just depends on you. You are the only one who can answer your question... How important is accuracy. If it's extremely important, do it. It will still be more corrosion resistant than Chrome moly...

Reliability will be fine (its a SS tube for Gods sake).
You will never wear it out (unless you shoot 15k rounds and don't take care of it).
It will be heavy, target bbls are.
It will shoot great, if you can, (it will out shoot you and me).
Work up a good load, shoot it and have fun, don't over analyze, you will go crazy.
Pass it on to your grand kids someday so they can enjoy.

CMMG makes an excellent product. I have one of their 16" chrome lined barrels on my rifle. Reliability will be excellent for a quality SS or Chrome lined steel bbl. Longevity is quite a different thing. A SS barrel will not last near as long as a chrome lined barrel. SS barrels do tend to be more accurate, however.
