Man, compared to my 642, I couldn't feel that big of a weight difference. .357 capable...I think it just made its way onto my list!

Yes a good choice I handle one or two every day and CCW one or two 24/7. I had a 642 and 340pd and found the 23oz. a joy to shoot and carry. At 23oz. its the min. weight needed for shooting the fight stopping street fighter the 357mag. Most times its stoked with 110gr. 357mag WW Personnel Defence ammo. I did put rubber combat boot grips on it the Hogue Bantam. Same ones that come on the 340pd. THere great for pocket carry and shooting. I like the SW640 real well.

The ejector pushed out much further than my 642s too. Duh, but still...

The SW640 barrel is 21/8" the 642 17/8".

My 640-1 is my daily companion. Wearing Hogue Bantums, it conceals easily, not to painful to shoot with magnum loads, and plenty accurate for up close work.

I bought a 640 a couple years ago and love it! Great concealability and have yet to find a round that I can't handle the recoil in that gun. And Speer for snubbies is suprisingly accurate in it.

Yes, it's the 158 USA. That's where she rides unless it's in a pocket.:)

late posting......

i have two 640-1s.....(non-locked versions)

i carry one on my ankle with amgnum loads as my on duty BUG....it wears the compac pachmayrs like the one pictured above with the pinky notch cut out of the bottom...

i like these guns....they are great, they are what the sp101 could be if they ever enclosed thier bobbed hammer version...

p.s. i tried shooting it with the U.M. boot grips and rem full power 125gr magnums....ouch, i could shoot the 5 round cylinder alright, but i would not try it on my dept. 60 round qual course....went to the compac pachs and i can do it easily now.
