I was at the local gun store today and lo and behold they had a very gently used Wilson CQB in the display case that seemed to be calling my name. I've been contemplating getting a Wilson or a Baer for some time now and today seemed as good a day as any to take the plunge. From everything that I can tell, it's your standard CQB with the addition of the blended magwell(the website seems a little vague whether it is a tandard item or not). I'll get a chance to shoot it tomorrow and will give all my range report directly. It came with the blue soft shell case, 2 Wilson 47D mags, a syringe or Wilson lube, and a Wilson chamber brush. But no DVD's or printed manual. I swear that this thing looks every bit the part of a safe queen finally let out the see the light of day. It still asounds me that people don't clean their guns before selling them (even on consignment). Out the door price was $1,953 after the tax man got his 7%. Probably not a great price, but I thought it was pretty decent considering the condition of the gun. And now for the obligitory pic just so that nobody gives me the standard "This Thread Is Worthless Without Pics" smilie.
Nice find....I think the price was fine. Nice looking gun, a real life long investment. Happy shooting!
You've made a great investment. Be careful they are addictive....

Thanks Ruggles! I can't wait to get it on the range tomorrow. If it performs like I hope it will, I might have found a new carry piece. As much as I love my Glock 19, it has no soul. It is the exact definition of a machine. The semi-custom/custom 1911 guns have history, larger caliber, single action trigger and a soul to them that can't be beat in my very humble opinion.

This is my third 1911, the second that I currently still own. I've had a Kimber Ultra CDP II that I ended up trading for a Remington 700PSS because I thought I was getting out of the 1911 game.
I currently own a Colt Combat Elite Series 80 that I have put Hogue wrap around grips on, an S&A magwell/backstrap and a Wilson one-piece guide rod.
And now am the proud owner of a Wilson CQB!
I can't wait to get to the range!

So I got to the range today and tried out the new to me Wilson CQB. Very smooth action, accuracy was great and it has a nice trigger to boot. I shot a total of 151 rounds using the two Wilson eight rounders that came with the pistol. Using Blaser 230 grain FMJ it worked like a champ. But then I tried a couple of mags of Federal Hydrashoks, 230 grain as well and had a few problems. On the last round of eight, the pistol refused to go fully into battery with each of the mags. Do you think that this is due to the eight round factor that I've been reading about here or do you think it has more to do with the Hydrashoks? With standard ball ammo, I would trust my life to this gun. But with hollow points, I'm just uncertain enough to keep on carrying my Glock 19 for now.
Very nice. I'd like to get a CQB myself.

My bet would first be the mags.
Check to make sure that the mags have the springs installed the correct way
As you look at the spring out side of the mag, the high side of the spring towards the front.
Hope that makes sense.
Try other mags with the same ammo if you can.
Good luck and enjoy the hell out of it.

I'm with Jsanti13 on this. Weak mag springs usually manifest in the last few rounds. Maybe in backwards or just weak. If they are in correct, go to gunsprings.com (Wolff) and get some replacement springs on the way. I love them.

Thanks guys. I tried both of the mags with ball ammmo and they worked just fine. The malfunction of the last round not feeding only occurred with JHP ammo, but with each mag. I think that I'll order those Wolff springs and try that route first. Otherwise I love the pistol and can see that it's going to be a keeper.

The WC CQB is a great choice . I have one in 38 Super. May be my favorite. Congrats!
I hope you like it as much as I do mine. I have the CQB Compact and an all black full size Protector. I love them both but carry the CQB most of the time. It has been flawless through thousands of rounds and if it doesn't hit the bulls eye it is my fault not the gun's!! It is my constant companion loaded with Blackhills 230gr. Gold Dots.
Great choice... I love mine.
You got to love that Armor-Tuff finish. It gives these guns a great look and feel and has got to be one of the best finishes on any gun period.

The only HP ammo that my CQB didn't like were the Federal HSTs. It did the same thing you are describing. My reccomendation is to test various types of HP ammo. Not all guns are the same.
Here is some of the ammuntion that I have tested and use/will use for SD:
Winchester Ranger 230 Gr. (Current SD ammunition)
Winchester Ranger 230 Gr. +P
Golden Saber 185 Gr.
Golden Saber 230 Gr.
Speer GDHP 185 Gr.
Speer GDHP 200 Gr. +P
Speer GDHP 230 Gr.
Hornady TAP 200 Gr. +P
Hornady TAP 230 Gr.
Hornady Custom 230 Gr.
Cor-Bon 185 Gr. +P
Cor-Bon 200 Gr. +P
Cor-Bon 230 Gr. +P
Federal 230 Gr. Hydra Shok
Federal 185 Gr. Classic
Federal 230 Gr. Classic

I've got this very same Wilson CQB. Bought it about two (2) years ago. Traded an original H&K P7 for about a thousand bucks along w/ an early model, chrome plated S&W model 39-2. Add a few hundred bucks and my CQB was in my hands. Awesome gun, rifle-like accuracy and pretty as all get-out as they say. Any time that I'm at the range and take it out, I'm telling you people drool over the thing. You should see some of my gun-nut cop friends when they see the thing. As much as I love all things glock and carry one off-duty all the time, the Wilson CQB is just an awesome looking and performing handgun. I'd carry the thing at work if I could, but, I have a hard time walking around w/ a 2 thousand dollar pistol on my belt.

I took 1st place at the plate shoot our little club had last Sunday with my CQB. Ran absolutely flawlessly with my 200 SWC loads. I've fired about 5K through it now. All kinds of ammo and it's had only one malfunction of any kind, that being a misfire. (That round wouldn't go off in any other pistol I tried it in.) I don't remember if I've tried running any HydroShoks through it though.
It went to Thunder Ranch where I fired 2k of frangible through it in five days, again with no hiccups whatsoever. It got abused a little there. The notorious "double feed" clearance drill isn't exactly good for a 1911 extractor but it held up even after a bunch of 'em. (At home I make the S&W 1911 take the abuse) The CQB feeds empty cases right out of the mag. :)
Fantastic piece of machinery with none of the fluff stuff hung on it. I absolutely love it. :)
