my wife bought me a new FN self loading police shotgun. what can you guys tell me about this gun.does anyone know where I can get a side saddle. thanks
If you plan on shooting birdshot with it, you need the handicap version or it won't cycle.

A side saddle for a Winchester Super-X2 will work perfectly.

It's the same receiver as the Super X2, it's a very fast shooting shotgun. The side saddle for the Winchester SX2 sill be what you need for the SLP.
I have one also, it a beautiful looking shotgun... isn't it?
here is a youtube video i found of it in action:

my slp came with 2 pistons and 2 chokes. it is the 18 inch 7 shot model. what ammunition won't cycle. i love this gun it is awsome. i think it is the best built combat shotgun made. i have the light piston in it now. thanks for your info much!!!

The light piston is for lighter loads. For regular self defense loads OO buck... slugs... the regular piston should be used.
The SLP may or may not cycle some of the lighter light recoil non self defense stuff. I break in period my help with this. I don't use the stuff so don't really know. I plan so shoot only OO buck and slugs.
I tried both pistons with the WWB stuff and neither worked in my case. I used #7 and #8 birdshot when I was testing it. A fellow shooter came by and was checking out my gun when he gave me some of the handicap loads in #8 that worked just fine.

My biggest complaint about this gun is that the "rail" isn't Picatinny...It's weaver. Not a big deal, but...

The Browning Gold is also the same dimensions..
I use the Tac Star Side Saddle manufacturer's item #1081162
Use loc tite but be sure not to over tighten the two mounting bolts because it will impede bolt travel. Ask me how I know this
I have fired my weapon once so far (one range trip) and it functioned just fine with Estate brand and Remington birdshot as well as slugs and buckshot. Not one failure
I have a holo sight on mine and it's the perfect optic
The FN rep told me that there will be a picatinny rail type fore end available next year for forward light mounting
