Legal question- Grant Park, IL

I recently spoke with my great aunt and she mentioned an old snub nosed revolver that she's kept (put away somewhere) for many years, but wasn't aware of the need to register it. She lives in Grant Park, if that makes any difference.

I only know the basics of Illinois law, can someone give a recommendation of what to do? I'm aware of the FOID cards ( :upeyes: ) and mentioned that to her, but I don't really know about anything else. Or perhaps this should be a case of "I sold it"
