View Full Version : Cmmg M4
I am looking to purchase my first black rifle and have came across a CMMG 16" M4. I have never heard of CMMG before comming across this one. I was acutally looking at Bushmaster or Rock River Arms. Can any of you black rifle pros give me some pros and cons of the CMMG and also how do you think they compare to Bushmaster and RRA.
Any input will be helpfull, as I am new the the black rifle!
Thanks

IMHO, CMMG is better than RRA and Bushmaster.
I really like the quality of product they are putting out, and the 1/7 twist that comes standard on their rifles.
My next upper will probably be a CMMG Lightweight 14.5" Carbine or Mid-length.

CMMG:
4150 barrel steel
chrome lined
M4 feed ramps
Bushmaster:
4150 barrel steel
chrome lined
NO M4 feed ramps
RRA:
4140 barrel steel
chrome lining is offered as an option on only a few models
"dremel ramps" (incorrect method of lengthening feed ramps)

So what Gary G23 is saying is that CMMG>RRA or Bushmaster..
My next upper will probably be a CMMG. Lots of good features for the money.

I have a carbine that was built on a CMMG complete upper and lower receiver. Very nice gun.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy CMMG over RRA or Bushmaster. I almost went for the lightweight middy instead of my Del-Ton lighweight carbine, but at the time, the CMMG LW middy was only available in a 1/12 twist. Now I hear they have the 1/7 twist. I guess I should have waited. The price is a little on the high side, but I think you get some quality stuff from them. That makes it worth it.
I'm waiting on UPS to deliver my CMMG barrel - quality stuff.

I'm running a few of their braided wire magazine springs in my PMAGs, and have absolutely zero complaints.:beer:
I purchased a CMMG Medcon 16" upper to mount on a Stag lower. The quality is unbeatable and if what you want is in stock, they don't mess around about shipping it. I called on a Friday morn. at 9:00 and it was at my house Tues. morn. Missouri-Texas
Thanks for all the info guys! I decided to go with a CMMG 16' M4 Carbine. They are putting it together for me know. I'll be in the woods for three weeks for SERE school, so I have to give them a call when I get back so they can ship it. Once I get it I'll let you know how it turned out!
Thanks again!
