Cleaning for first time

Ok - pretty soon I am going to have to clean my new 36 for the first time (have not shot it yet). I have read on different posts here in the past about removing or not removing the copper colored lubricant on portions of the slide. Well, the other day while reading the instructions for use booklet it says not to remove this lubricant. Am I assuming correctly this lubricant is on the slide rails and if so should I not put any oil on the slide rails until the lubricant wears off? I have not field stripped it yet so I don't know how much of the slide rails have this lubricant. I know this is probably a pretty basic question to most of you but this is all new to me. Thanks

Anti seize for long term storage. Remove at will, as long as you replace with good gun lube.

Mine was gone after the first range visit when I put 200 rounds thru her anyway so I doubt its an issue.
