If you have an A1 stock that takes a trapdoor buttplate, DPMS (Panther Arms) has NOS A1 buttplates. The parts number is BS-02A, the final A being crucial. Without the 'A', you get a checkered A2 buttplate.
The item is NOT in their online catalog; you must call (800-578-3767) and specifically ask for it, and even then your salesperson may be flummoxed; price is $3.50.
You will still need the trapdoor itself, but those seem to survive in pretty good shape, and respond to touchup with aluminium black.
Buttplates that have seen service usually show it, so this is an opportunity to get a new one.
