IDPA or GSSF in NoVA

I've been on GT for a couple of months but I just found out about this group today via a post in General Glocking.

I've only been shooting for a short time, still working on trigger control. I think I'd like to try IDPA or GSSF and I'd like to find out about the options in the area. I see that Blue Ridge is having several GSSF events. I already have plans for 7/21 but I can make the 8/18 event. I may want to watch one event first, just to see what goes on and get an idea of the flow and what type of equipment I'll need (holster, mag pouch, etc...)

Does anybody know if it is possible to just watch during the GSSF event at Blue Ridge? Likewise, are there any IDPA events in NoVA and are spectators welcome. After watching one, I'd like to dive right in.

I'd appreciate any info you guys feel like sharing.

The next outdoor GSSF match closest to you is at Topton, PA on August 18-19. It's a great match, well worth the drive and overnight stay.

Blue Ridge Arsenal has been having a "GSSF League" shoot.

Next one is July 21st.

They shoot IDPA at the NRA range once a month on Tuesday nights. Can't remember which Tuesday of the Month they shoot, but you could call them and ask.

They shoot USPSA down in Fredricksburg and out in Strasburg.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know they did IDPA at the NRA range. I was just there two hours ago. I'll have to get some info next week.

Tuesday night is match night at the NRA, one week they do Cowboy, another week they do IPSC/USPSA, another they do IDPA, and they do something else, maybe Bullseye on the remainding week of the month.

Just checked the web site, IPSC is the only thing on the schedule for July.
