View Full Version : How about a shoe size rant?
Well, not "rant" in the classic sense, but still -
Trying to find specific shoes that I fall in love with AND that are size 5.5 stinks!

On the other size of the spectrum, size 10 seems to be the most popular size, and sells out the fastest! :fist:
I also have problems finding 9s. :sigh:

I have shoes from size 8 to size 12 in my closet. My normal size is 9 1/2W (try finding that!) or 10.
Talk about disparity in sizing :soap:

I have a funny story to add.
My wife has a shoe size of 5 so she understands your problem. I was with her once while she was looking for shoes. Most of what she liked was not available in her size. One girl at the shoe store actually looked at my wife and told her that "small sizes are out of style." I don't know if she actually realized what she said but my wife and I still chuckle about it sometimes.
Ah, the problem of being a big footed girl. However, as a bonus, when we do find a size 10, we are often the only person with those shoes. Uniqueness is good!
:shoe:
:chatter:
:cop: wears 15
:cop: has spawned 3 little:cop:
little :cop: #1 is 10 and is sharing my 8 1/2s
little :cop: #2 is seven and wearing a 4+
little :cop: #3 is a size ahead of his cousin that is only one day younger than him!
extra  the 2 biggest ones both have dreams of point shoes, and the ballet teacher says they only make them up to size 9 1/2!!:shakehead:
:hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

I'm not far off, I wear a 6.5.
My mom is a 4.5.

:shoe:
And lots of killer clearance sales
I got red Mary-Jane leather clogs for $4 once. I paid $12 for a very comfy pair of Sketchers "dyke shoes" as my best friend (he was gay) called them. My red Chuck Taylors were around $8 and rarely will I pay more than $20 for a pair of shoes!
I normally rack up price-wise but more often than not, I can't find my size
<---Is a Ladies 4 that MIGHT occassionally get by with a 5. It's horrible finding shoes when you have a small foot!
Trust me! Most shoe stores put out their smallest shoes, and do NOT carry a 4 at all.
At least, having to be concerned about finding shoes, can take my mind off of other heart breaks in my life!
:crying:

You and my mom are secretly related, right? And you're right, nobody carries a 4. Mom has good luck at Cook & Love, but their prices are through the roof. Thank goodness she's retired now so she doesn't have to have dress shoes anymore.

It's true! The only place I can be SURE to find something in my size is the most expensive stores and Malls in town.
Or...for school, I can just go to the girls department and TRY to find something without Barbie, Butterflies, or Hello Kitty on it!

You would be "Hip" with some of the students I'm sure if you wore some of those to class.
I can hear the girls now...."Mom, Ms kcb has the NEATEST shoes, I want a pair"!

My "Fruity Shorts" came from the little girl's department at Dillard's. STG couldn't believe it. A child's size 16 fits me with plenty of room to spare. $14.00.

I've had little girls, I won't tell you how young say
"Mrs. B!!!! I LOVE your shoes!!!!"
I have said, "Thank you! You can probably find a pair JUST like them in your size, too!"
The WORST day was the year I was teaching first grade, and one of my students announced at the top of her voice, while I was lining them up for lunch...."MRS. B!!!! LOOK!!! WE have the SAME SHOES ON!!!!!!"
The whole class had to get out of line and look!
:faint:
We did! "You must have bought them at Beall's Children's Shoe Department?"
You DO save a lot of money on shoes, though. ESPECIALLY athletic
shoes. Girls are MUCH less expensive than Ladies!!!

Clothing...I haven't been able to do girls clothes. EVEN at 99 pounds, God gave me "curves". First he gave me hips. Then, with and after pregnancies....Well...that's enough said...
They just aren't cut right for me.
I have to have Petite Ladies, depending on the cut, determines the size.
The sizes are hard to find, though, because most stores do not start until size 6 or 8. If you are 0 to 4, you have a search on your hand.

Is there anything sized that you ladies don't get screwed over? I figured at least shoes would be standard sizing. I've worn the same damn shoe size since I was 16.

No, we pretty much get screwed over in everything. My feet haven't grown a bit since I was 14, but the rest of me sure did. It's almost odd that for as tall as I got my feet never grew in proportion.

I have been a size 8 since about the 6th grade when my feet stopped growing. In the past 6 months or so I have found that 8's are now too big! I'm pretty sure that my feet didn't shrink. I wear a 7 and 1/2 now.
GlockGirl- I know what you mean. I feel like I have really small feet for how tall I am. I'm 5'8". My mom is 5'10" and wears a size 10 shoe. That's only 2 inches taller but 2 and 1/2 shoe sizes bigger than me

I am 5'10" too, and wear a size 8.
I just remembered that when I was pregnant w/kiddo, my feet zoomed TWO sizes larger by the time I was at the end of my 1st trimester.
BLECH! I not only had to pull together "maternity clothes" for the office, but shoes, too! And it's not like I gained 100 lbs or something....went from 110 to 140 at the end, so only 30. But TWO shoe sizes? Eh.
